    wrxs and geeks

I see a trend here: a lot of computer geeks like wrxs. lol.

oh well. i guess sitting in front of a computer all day will make most people wanna mash the gas pedal down on a fast car after dealing with stress all day.

Way too many geeks here. I am a systems administrator. We have a server farm of about 100 servers running NT4 and Win2K. All our branch offices run dumb terminals with Citrix. We have about 950 employees spread out through Northern CA.

I knew I was in the wrong field in insurance. I finished Software Quality Assurance class 2 years ago. That helped in the hey days of the tech boom (lots of free food), but luckily I didn't accept the job offers then. The companies have gone bust. Waiting for another boom The wife is trying to push me to go for mechanical engineering. Looking into it now.

More like what doesn't pay the bills for me.

I'm finishing up my B.S. in Molecular Bioscience and then starting medical school in a year. Woohoo - no money to be made until I'm 30! Hence the beater Acura now...but the WRX may still happen when I graduate.

I feel among good company in here with all the geeks!

I'm an Electrical Engineer. But I've done my share of linux/slowlaris system administration and web app development too.

Ummm, this is getting scary. Web stuff for the government. Got a buddy of mine in the same field, and he also drives a Subaru. In fact, out of all the technical staff, about a quarter drive Subarus....

I guess I'm the oddball out. I don't have an engineering degree, I don't have the word "Technical" anywhere in my job description, and I don't know jack squat about programming anything in any language.

Then again, the "DDS" in my name isn't just for a snappy screenname. And it pays the bills pretty damn well.
