Evo goes mid 12s with BPU mods

- K&N Panel Filter
- HKS Super AFR Pre-Programmed and Tuned
- Turbosmart Manual Boost Controller set at 19-20psi

That's awesome, but that is a freakishly good 60'. Average chaps on the road are not gonna be pulling 1.7s. In an Evo or a WRX, or an STI for that matter.

Great time for not that much done. That is a stage 4 type time for a WRX, which dollar for dollar is about right. Wonder how much was spent total on the Evo, any idea? I am interested in the dollar vs. dollar comparison. Stock for Stock there is no comparison, but a Stage 4 WRX could be as quick as an Evo for less money, so this should be and interesting battle until the STI comes out........

Wait in the original thread they only ran a 12.9 with the 2.5" downpipe and stock exhaust. They didn't hit mid 12's until they put the 3" turbo-back on!... Still amazing times..

1.7s is extremely common on DSMs. I did a 1.71 on the stock clutch on one of my 92 GSXs.

Glad to see once the exhaust is uncorked they start running what you'd expect out of a car with a 16g and FMIC. That's $2k of mods they don't have to buy compared to the old DSMs.

1.7 60' ? Whoa nelly, that sucker comes outta the hole hard eh? Wonder what's gonna be the weak link in the driveline? Somebody is gonna find it for sure. With the forged internals the hp numbers are going to climb, 12.6/12.7 BPU...dang that's awesome. STi outta be right around that with a few mods, wonder what it's armor chink will be?

Ahh, its a new golden age of horsepower. But this go-around we have AWD and computers to tinker with. Now the question is, how long will the insurance companies put up with it?

i think for most awd cars, the weakest link will always be the tranny or xfer case or something close. although the evo and sti will have super beefy trannies it can happen.
