Just wanted to share a little tussle I had with a Porsche BoxterS this morning. I was headed south on the Sepulveda pass (a twisted canyon in SoCal) when this particular BoxterS came up weaving through traffic at a very fast pace. After pulling about five car lengths ahead of me, I downshifted and decided to go after him. Within half a mile of convoluted road our positions reversed. I had passed him and was about five car lengths ahead. We then hit a straight away which leads to a tunnel and ends in a stoplight. As luck would have it, the light turned red. I slowed to a stop while he pulled next to me. The funny thing was, he would not look at me even though I was meaning to acknowledge what just transpired. Anyhow, when the light turned green we go at it again. He seemed to have bogged his launch, which allowed me to gain an advantage of a couple of car lengths. By third gear, I sensed that he backed off since I started to leave him at a very fast rate. Suffice to say, I just smoked a BoxterS.
To his credit, his car seemed to have stayed planted while my WRX was drifting (all four wheels) as we clocked 70mph+ on the turns. And, I had to resort to some left foot braking and throttle modulation (heel and toe) to beat him.
