Cool Vishnu Stg 1 vs. Vishnu Stg 2

Hey guys, I'll make this quick, it was a fun race. I see a silver Wagon trying to catch up to me as I'm driving around town. Finally we caught a light and line up to each other. He asked me if I was stock, and I said that I had Vish. Stg. 1. He said, "Vishnu II!" I was like,"ah man, you'll kill me." The light turned green and we took off, I took the lead cause I launched harder, but this wasn't the real race. Down the road, we turned left, onto a two laner straight road. We lined up going about 20mph, and nodded, and both hammered it.

I had my wife and kid in the car and he was by himself. We went from low 2nd gear to mid-upper 4th gear (about 20mph to >100mph). He pulled about 2 cars on me total! I was shocked! Vishnu stg. 2 has a bigger turbo and injectors, and technically, I'm a cat-back short of a FULL stg 1!

He didn't seem to be $1600+ faster than me that's for sure. I would expect the bigger turbo to pull on my azz harder than that.

Anyway, I turned left at my light, and we both waved indicating a good race. The guy was pretty cool. I wore a grin for the rest of the day! Like this -->

    Good times.

And I don't want to be the "street race nanny" but please don't drive that fast with children in the car. No insult to you and how well you can drive so don't take it that way.

That bigger turbo may take longer to spoll up too, making it seem a bit slower. I'm guessing you both started in 1st gear too?

The wife is fine. I guess the problem I have with it is where the wife can say stop you are driving too fast the child can not. If someone does not feel comfortable driving at 100 mph you should not subject them to it. I also have a problem with people who smoke in the car with children. I want to do bad things to the parents when I see that.

I don't wan't anyone to get mad at me saying it was totally safe blah blah.

    Lets be friends.

Possibly he meant Vishnu also? Which would explain why he only pulled 2 cars when you had additional people.

Brett at Vishnu told me he would place his money on the stage 1 cars in light to light races over stage 2 because the stock turbo spools faster. But on the freeway etc, stage 2 all the way.

Point taken... It was on the more rural end of town, not in the middle of the city....but ANY race ANYWHERE is dangerous. I let the adrenalin get the best of me I guess.

When I told him I had Vishnu Stg. I, I raised up 1 finger, when he said, "Vishnu II", he also distinctly held up 2 fingers at the same time, giving me and my wife the impression that he meant "Stage II"...

I could understand that on a light to light race, but this road is like 2 miles long between the two lights, and we went from ~20mph - ~100mph, which means our launch techniques didn't matter. Stop light races, your talking about topping out at 60mph or so. There wasn't really any point during the race where his turbo started breathing and he took off either...all his gains were fairly linear as we accelerated. Add the extra weight in my car, and I'm really confused about how this outcome happened, unless of course you guys are right and he was lying, and the guy was running the same setup as me, in which case the outcome would be understandable.

Thanks for being cool about it.

Maybe his car is not tuned properly?

I have VS0 plus+ (VF 29, samcos) and after riding in a stock WRX again my turbo has a lot more lag but once she gets going I'll blow the stock turbo away.
