The April 2003 issue of Super Street mentions that the weight of a stock EVO VIII is a whopping 4,222 pounds!
As we all know, a stock WRX is only 3,085 pounds.
When I saw this machine today, and felt the strut tower brace that seemed to be made of iron, I had a feeling that it would be heavier. But not this much!
What good is an 44 extra horsepower when it's pulling 1137 pounds?![]()

That is clearly a misprint man. Try more like 3222.
I've seen Sport Compact Car quote the weight being 3,263 lbs.
4222lbs is the weight of a full size truck.

I guess these guys focus a bit too much on their corny jokes, and not enough on their typing accuracy or editing abilities.

those magazines are full of misprints, i swear, its around 3300 lbs.
On the Mitsu Motors site, it lists the MAX weight as like 4400 lbs. So that's what the suspension can handle before bottoming-out, I'd guess. No way it weighs more than 3400 curb weight.
Anyhow, the Evo doesn't look TOO much like a revamped WRX, now does it?It does have style, though. And comes stock with Brembo 4-piston brakes up front, Enkei/Yokohama 17" wheel package, and 19psi turbo. Does that make it worth $5k more than a stock WRX??? Notsosher.

I remember when they listed the Skyline as a 5000 or 6000 pound machine.
