    I raced an 03 cobra

Well basics....he is stock.....673 miles on the car.

    The race:
I took off hard and immediately pulled. He didn't catch up till around 95.. When i hit 103 i looked over and he was at my 1/4 panel pulling hard. Then he blew by me. 103 would have been the quartermile for sure. So i know that i would have had him. He said that he can't launch any higher than 1,000 or he'll smoke the tires. Either way we kept going. I was sticking about 1.5-2 cars back all the way to 120. I was proud of my car.

Anyone with a stage 4 should be able to dust one of these if they can drive.

    Holy poop!

I really need to test drive a new Cobra. They are f'in viscious - and with some cheap (sort of cheap) mods, they're deadly. My friend that works at a Ford dealership is trying to arrange something... I can't wait.

Joe: Nice kill. Maybe I just don't know much, but how did those mods you have listed get you a 12.9 @103???? That's sweet...I was almost positive you needed at least a new turbo and fuel management to get there.

    Another WOW!

Traction is everything racing on the street. All that horse power doesn't do the Cobra a lot of good racing from a dead stop.

I also like the part about your rex hanging in there at speeds over 100mph.

    Good job.

if you spend a total of 35k on the WRX (cost of car, etc...) you should be able to whoop the Cobra which is at 35k.

It I bought an old school bug for I dunno a grand and put 33 grand in it I am sure it would waste everyone. That argument is kinda lame the whole if you got what ever car for however much and then made up the differnce.

If you are into modding cars, and you can afford to buy a 34k car and still mod it you are the man. But if you can only get a 23k car and mod it then you are the man to the peoeple who buy 16k cars and mod it.

how does he "blow by" you when your near 103 and then you hang behind him to 120? sounds like he slowed down for you or something when he passed by maybe?

BTW: A good rule of thumb for a stock 03 Cobra at the track is

    8.5 @ 85 MPH 1/8

    13.0 @ 110 MPH 1/4

This is the average. You should edge some and not others. Its a drivers race. My lightly modded Cobra would prolly give you a better race in the 1/8th and kill you in the 1/4 by a second. Its all in how you feather the clutch off the line. The WRX should pull a car, but get reeled in quickly.

Those do sound like good times for your mods. Nice going!

My goal when i bought the car was 12.7@103 with stock turbo. I already hit 103.6 now i have to shave a little time. I'm going to get lighter wheels and a pulley. Hopefully i can do it with that because as of now that's all the plans i have for the car.
