It is the little things that I am talking about like grab the e brake in a neon or even in my Protege 5 and they damn thing is plastic. In my rex it is nicely wrapped in leather. Just little things like that I am not saying it is like going from a yugo to a sl500. When I drive my rex I feel as if i am in a more expensive car which it is.

I don't understand how a stock WRX wouldn't get beat by SRT4
SRT4 has bigger turbo, bigger engine, FMIC, more HP at the wheel, and lighter.
I want to race one tho,,,,heavily moddified prefered.
my car is slow,,,,,, very slow.

I will never understand why WRX owners think the SRT-4 is ugly.
I'll take an AWD vehicle though. If I had to choose now between an SRT-4 and a WRX, I'd take a WRX. I like cruise control and AWD.![]()

The lights are similar but thats about all. I lined my car up with an SRT-4 I saw parked at the mall..They are not as similar as many think. And I think the Mazda looks the bestOriginally posted by cyrilgrey

stock for stock the neon should own the rex...14.0 neon and 14.5 wrx...and then to race from a roll...that doesn't help the rex any! if didn't live in alaska i'd probably get a neon (i like the beauty of all wheel drive!)...it's ugly but i thought my rex was ugly when i first got it...it started to grow on me and i through a body kit on it so it looks alittle better now! the srt-4 neon...some good bang for the buck!![]()

I thought C&D wrung a 14.2 out of it?
MotorWeek's 14.9 can be attributed to a cool, damp testing track as they pointed out. Not conducive for 2WD acceleration tests, esp. FWD/no LSD.

Ok, so not to thread crap, but the WRX owner DEFINITELY changed gear too early.
When we get some more reviews, we'll know for sure. I know now for a fact that he changed gear too early. It felt like he changed gear at around 5500-6000rpm.
Anyone else think this?![]()
I mean come on. Please stop making excuses for the WRX owner. I could understand your reasoning if the video somehow shot the gauge cluster but it didn't. This guy was racing, and at the same time he gave the SRT-4 props. Why would he do so if he wasn't taking his WRX to the limit?
Again, look at what both of these cars are trapping. The SRT-4 is trapping 6-7mph higher stock for stock. I think this video reflected that difference very clearly.

I'm not trying to put down the SRT-4 since it's obviously a competent vehicle. There are however a ton of things I dislike about it.
1.) The ridiculous rear wing. It's screams 'teen-racer'.
2.) The confining bucket-seats. Not my ideal comfy-drive day in day out. The WRX has fantastic seats in my opinion.
3.) No AWD. This is a huge must for me living in Minnesota where we get tons of rain and snow. I feared for my wife's safety any time she went out in the blizzards in her Escort. Nothing did it for me more this winter than screaming through the snow in the WRX. Nothing touches it.
4.) No cruise control. I do a ton of long drives and I welcome to the break for my right foot, even if only for a minute or two.

For the money, the SRT-4 is a great car, even an awesome car. It's just not the complete package I feel the WRX is. I don't care if the WRX is slower. As an 'all weather' car, I'll take the WRX any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
