The Ricer Flyby - Defined

Im always seeing people in this forum talking about racing slower cars, and then being surprised by the fact that the car they just pounded into the dirt accelerates past them as though the race had not already ended 20 seconds ago. This phenomenon is sometimes refered to as the "Ricer Flyby." Im here to definativly explain to all that the reason the slower car passes you as though he is not done racing is becasue of just that, he IS NOT done.
When you race the 'ricer' you accelerate to...say the end of second gear, becasue by this time you already smoked him and would like to keep your speed safe since there is no reason to risk it against such an inferior vehicle. BUT in the case of the 'ricer' he has not yet even begun to approach the posted speed limit, so to him, he hasent even done anything/illegal fun yet. By the time your ahead decelerating/talkin on the phone/at home in bed, hes still busy accelerating like there is no tomorrow towards a blistering rate of 45mph in an attempt to prove to you that he can.
You see, its really quite simple when you think about it, you enjoy speed and the thrill of driving, so does the other guy, it just takes him longer to do so.
Let that be the end of asking about the need of the 'Flyby,' or saying 'why do they do that.' Just accept it, it happens.
Thank You.

Seriously, though, I think some ricers think you are still racing them and that their mad top end just kicked in. I like to give them a little brake tap to know the race is over.

hahahahahaha!! good stuff. you had me laughing out loud

whats worse is when they do the ricer flyby at the START of the race. they think getting the start 100feet back and then flying by you before you even know theyre racing is cool...and legit? thats crap to me. how can you claim a win when you start like 10 secs earlier. thats like dragging someone and then starting when theyve hit the 1/8. how ghey.

I wait for the flyby, and deny it. Keep the rig in a sweet hp/torque spot and let em get about 1/2 up the car and goose it again.

Its that mad 3rd gear Vtec yo!

Sometimes I laugh at these kids who think vtec is the ****...man, I do love it and its fairly quick and I certainly indulge myself daily. But you get on these Honda boards and its like "man, we were neck and neck until my vtec kicked in and I passed him like he was standing still, it pulls so hard, blahblahblah.."

I have to remind myself that vtec is nice, but not really that fast, at least once a week by getting in my roomates '97 M3 and stomping on it. That's a ****ing 3rd gear...
