    2007 350Z vs 2007 STI

Ok, I dont have any of these two cars. i personally Love Subaru and esp STI. However, the another day i ran into two guys at school debating over the following issue.---- (STOCK VS STOCK) ------STI 2007 has 293 hp with 290 trq. 350Z has 306 hp 268 trq(2007 and + HR engine red line 7500).I do know that STIs are THE best from start, and have extremely good launch. But two good dirvers driving each one. what do you think the result would be. I know there will the alot of bias oppinions, but if you can be objective just face the reality . Thanks

I _think_ the Z weighs a significant amount more and probably would lose in a 1/4 mile race but might win a race from a roll.

    STI-3351 lb - 1521 kg: vs 350Z--3339lb or 1516kg - pretty similar

I'm going to try and discourage magazine racing like this.
0-60 faster then your first sexual experience.

Magazine racing is like building the space shuttle after reading Popular Mechanics.
Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant,"If I live, I will kill you. If i die, you are forgiven. " such is the rule of Honor.

Magazine racing would say the STI is faster by a few tenths in the 1/4 mile... however, what magazine racers fail to realize is 30-100 may have a different outcome, 60-120 may have a different outcome, etc. etc.

In the heat, the STI can lose power due to an overactive ecu pulling timing, wastegate duty, etc... so the Z would win in that condition. Many different variables one must look at... the STI used to advertise it was faster than many faster cars because of its 0-60 time and people believed that, despite the fact the STI is decimated soon after 60mph.

The Z may be slower on paper, but it'll serve you better overall with consistent power output. I was so pissed with my car when I was racing in 110 degree + temps... the car had NO power, NO boost, and throttle response was horrible... I thought my car was broken, but as the sun went down and temps cooled, I had power again.

I think the Z will pass up the STI around the 120 MPH mark give or take 5 mph depending on driver.
