you probably wont hurt it, but id wait till 1000 miles anyway just to be on the safe side....plus you'll be more familiar/comfortable with the car anyway, which will make it easier to win

That Eclipse is a deceptively big car. You're looking at roughly a 400 lb weight advantage. Granted, it's rated at 263 hp, but 3500lbs is a lot of weight to get moving. I would think you could take him without a whole lot of difficulty, but I'm with dbrunone -wait until 1000 miles just to be safe.

Yeah I don't think you need everything your car has to beat him. That car is heavy and although it has more horsepower, its not awd and it shows a slow 5.8 0-60 time. Eitherway, just wait til 1000, maybe 1500 miles to be safe, then blow that trashmobile back to the jersey shore.

Just race him now! It won't hurt the car!

You will have him off the line but he will beat you in the end!

Just messing around! Don't race til at least 1,000 miles like everyone is saying!

Is he selling the car? Are you selling your car? Is he moving any time soon? Is the track going to close?

Why all the need to run the car hard right away?

Yeah personally I'd wait even till 1500 miles if I were you. No reason to beat the **** out of your brand new car. The eclipses trap around 100mph I THINK so depending on the length of the race will tell you who will win.

If his GT is a manual tranny and he can drive you will need everything your wrx has to offer to beat him. They run low-mid 14's @ 99/100 mph.

    I wouldn't race because:

    1) It is not good to do so in the break-in period

    2) He will win if you don't launch hard and redline it.

    Be patient.

Wait till the break-in period is over.

Listen to everyone and dont race him as yet... wait until 1000 or even 1500 and plus u have it one week already and it has on 5 hundred and something so wait another week or two then just take him and then finish breakin in ur car.... .... u will have enough time to beat him over and over again so dont embrass him too quickly...

wait till break-in is over. no reason not to wait.
If you dont get a perfect launch (or if he screws up) he will take you.

    Eclipse GT's run 14.0 1/4mi stock.
