Now are you comparing it to your wrx (what stage are you?) or a stock wrx?

I was bored Monday and decided to go to the dealership to test drive a Z. I pull up in the wrx, and the dealer was impressed. Said he owned an 05 STi. Was talking about how I was really going to like the Z and all. Took a 1/2 hour showing me all the compartments behind the seat...![]()
When I asked if he could take me for a ride in it he jumped at the chance to show me how much better it was than my wrx. Didn't check license, insurance... nothing. He was stoked, because he could've sworn he had a potential buyer.
He took me out, drove me around to show me what it could do. I wasn't even mildly impressed, but he was a crap driver. Clutch smell... gear thud... everything that a bad driver exhibits. So he pulls over in this church parking lot and gives me a shot at her...
I took off smooth so I could feel where the clutch let off for the first time. EASY clutch.. very smooth shifting compared to the WRX. So at the next stop sign I gunned it. Very linear power, but didn't pull very hard at all for a RWD Sports Car. I hear 308hp and I get a little chub, but I was dissappointed. The only other RWD sports cars I've driven hard (Camaro and Corvette) pushed me back in my seat... the Z didn't have that at all.
Unfortunately I didn't get to go on any of the curvy stuff. That's what I really would've liked to feel. But no go..
Overall it's a gorgeous car, and a decent interior, but I wouldn't trade my WRX straight across for one. Just didn't have the appeal, or the satisfying pull.
(sorry cav!)

You guys must also understand the VQ35 is one of the most linear engines on the market and naturally will feel slower than a wrx which feels like a honda civic until 4k rpms and then BOOM turbo spool.
This is a very common complaint from wrx owners that test drive Z's. Rest assured though, that new 350Z would take your stage1 WRX with relative ease.

Yeah, you know.... Because 3 06/07 wrx have gone 13.7-13.9 stock where as most run low 14's @ 96/97mph at best, and just about every decently driven 06/07 Z will go mid-high 13's @ 103+.
I am not going to argue mag times with you. Think what you will.
Oh wait... I didn't see you had an 06'! If that is the case, then you can take an Enzo.

I don't give a damn about Mag times. Of course I'm going to mention that I have an 06. 1/4 mi times are a 1/2 second difference between 05 and 06 but justification for your sarcasm is pointless.
But either way.. I don't care about the numbers. I didn't take the damned thing to the track. I drove it for about 10-15 minutes. I didn't like it, and I posted an opinion. I'm not going to sit here and argue about whether or not I'll lose to a Z.
But on another note... I also don't like all the plastic under the hood. Makes a guy wonder if with engine heat that will all fade to a dull dark grey plastic from a shiny black. Plus I like having an exposed engine. More to clean, but when it's clean it looks so picture perfect
