The cars are about 180 degrees different. They really dont compare.

A TT g35 should walk all over a STI. Dollar for dollar I imagine the STI is cheaper to go fast in.

A little side note...what's your age, who's paying for the car, who's paying for the mods, and who pays for insurance?

The cars are still completely different. The g35 is has many more creature comforts. I'm sure with the right suspension you could void that, but I'd consider the g35 more of a "plush" car then the STI. Cars are different.

Test drive both in stock form and base your decision off of that.

I'd imagine a TT kit for a g35 isnt cheap.

You had better check labor on that kit unless you are planning to do it yourself in which case - you're in for a full weekend.

350zmotoring.com has alot of info on g35/350z. I have a 350Z, and I have yet to see any mod I would consider breaking my warranty for. When Cobb releases their AP for the 350Z, I'll probably get it.

At 18, you're going into the service - and already spending the money on a car that you won't be able to drive because you'll be deployed. Are you sure you wanna do that?

ok and chances of being deployed are slim to none in my job and they will transfer my car for me for little to no cost. so im pretty sure this is what i wanna do. thanks for looking out tho

I've owned a G35 and a somewhat modded WRX, which was close enough to the STI experience. Opposite ends of a spectrum.

The Subaru is raw, great road feel, econocar interior, and makes lots of gains from cheap mods. Looks fairly ordinary to most people, once you get past the boyracer spoiler.

The G is refined, handles well but feels numb by comparison (plusher suspension, and a detached feeling DBW throttle IMO), has a lovely, quiet interior with a dash of luxury, a much more boring powerband, and you pay dearly to achieve 20 more horsepower. Most people I know thought the car was lovely.

Both great cars, for different people.

hopefully you will not do anything stupid in either car your going to get...

Younger people (i am young myself but not stupid) do crazy stuff in their fast cars and risk injury to themselves or others... This is why my insurance is soo damn high!

With whatever car you get... Be Careful... Have Fun... and take Pictures!!

The STi will be cheaper to make fast and probably easier to drive fast. I found that AWD is more forgiving (especially for someone without alot of driving experience) than RWD and this is only going to become more apparent when you start throwing in twin turbos and high hp.

EDIT: You made a thread about an STi vs twin turbo Z. The Z and G are basically the same car except the G is larger and heavier.

    thats cool... just be careful..

like someone else said.. you have to test drive both cars first..

I always liked the 350z/G35's and I test drove a G35 and it was decent... but for $38k for a new '07 wasn't worth it to me for the drive.... I test drove a '07 WRX ($26k) and a '07 STi ($32k).... I felt that the STi was too much for me at the present point in my life. The WRX was still quick enough for me and had the AWD feature... There is alot of upgrade options out there for the WRX.

Now I have a '07 WRB WRX Limited (leather, sunroof, heated seats/mirrors)

Another thing... Check Insurance Prices.... STi for an 18 year old!!! It's going to be ridiculous! I am paying $300/month for a WRX - No tickets, 1 minor accident (1.5 years ago) and I am almost 22!
