    2006 Mercedes SL55 AMG

Ok, so my chemistry lab TA has one of those cars. I have a stock 2006 WRX. How badly would he beat me?

I realize that they have like 355 hp (at the crank), but still. Aren't they in like the same class as the boxter S?

Actually, the AMG uses a supercharged V8 putting out ~ 500hp to the crank. They run very low 12's - high 11's and mod quite easily.

It would absolutely destroy you... Like we are talking bus-lengths upon bus lengths.

    How the hell does a Chem-Lab T/A afford a $100,000 car?

That's one way for a T/A to get some T/A.

And yes, those cars are deadly.

You would be blown away, unless your clutch is ready to go and its a race to 40. Whatever the hp rating is, the tq is probably one hundred more than that.

Again, how does a TA have this? I bet he's never late.

    Sure its this?

    Oops!

Sorry, I meant to put SLK55. I was wondering what you were talking about with the supercharger....

Anywho, He has this thing in storage right now because his dad owns some big company down in Texas and has a summer job where he rakes in like $150K. He goes back down and drives it. He did not want to risk it in Missouri winters.

Sorry for the confusion, but more imput is necessary! LOL

anything with the 55AMG has the same engine in it and should be respected from a distance. same can be doubled for the 63AMG's, i think those are like 613bhp, twin turbo v12's. those are pretty awesome.

I saw one of those yesterday - a rarity in my area. Any car like that is a rarity.

Do you live in a rural area or something?

I see these on a multi-daily basis. Hell, just today on my way to class I came across an E55 AMG, SL63 AMG, Lambo Gallardo, 997 911 Turbo. And that is just what my eye caught while I was half asleep at the wheel, lol.

Well, I kinda said to him that whenever he brought his car down, that I had a challenge for him. Then, my dumb-butt started to think..."what if this thing has lots of power..."

I read something about them being 0-60 in 4.9. That is STI territory, not supercar Porsche territory, right? I figure that if he does come down with it from Texas, I might be stage 2, and I could have a better chance...
