    Beaten by an R32...

I ran a VW R32 on my way home from college friday, we ran from 70-110ish. I couldnt tell what mods he was running but I think I could hear some type of exhaust from him. I have a 2002 WRX with just a TBE for power. Once we matched each other's speed he beeped 3 times and we both gunned it. Immediately he jumpped ahead of me by atleast half a car then I held onto my own to around 85. Once we got above 85 he started pulling again and by the time we hit 110 he was about 1.5 cars ahead of me. Overall I was happy with the results, R32s are suppose to be pretty quick and I was definately surprised that I even stayed within 20ft of him. I pretty sure with stage 2 I would have walked him.

Stock exhaust from them is pretty loud. I use to work at Volkswagen and had the chance to drive them around quite a bit. They are fast little things. But heavy, also its nice they have 6 speed.

By the title I thought you ment Skyline R32.

Yeah, the R32's (VW) sound pretty sick with a modded exhaust.

No surprises here. Stock they trap 98-100mph and with a simple ecu flash that gets bumped up to 100-103mph.

never really been a fan of the vw's, but If I had to have one it'd be an R32....

being that I've worked in a foriegn car garage for a few years now, I just see way to many vw's and audi's in there (probably 3-4 to evey 1 other car we get in) to ever want to buy one.... must be a fun car though while it's running.

Last Autocross I ran had an R32 in my class. My best run was 32.676 and his best was 33.323. See http://www.scsportscar.com/content/a...224&Report=fin

I am number 11 and he was number 42. Both of us ran in the novice class but both also fall in D-Stock.

    That is impossible....

I hated when these cars first came out everyone (including VW) compared them to the wrx. I'm sorry VW but if you want to release an AWD performance car in the 30-33k range you just jumped into the STI/Evo world which it is obviously not a contended for.

How is that impossible? I don't understand your point. The '04 R32 and I (in my 06 WRX wagon) were both running in an autocross. My best time was faster that his best time. That is not street racing (not a good idea) or a drag strip, but, in the autocross, I killed an R32. No, neither of us likely got above about 45 mph. But, it is a controlled course timed to thousandths of seconds. See the link I posted previously for autocross results.

Is your point that if it does happen on an interstate where you can kill other people, the competition isn't real? I'd argue exactly the opposite.

The other smiley face didnt show up next to the rolleyes.

It was complete sarcasim as when the car came out everyone said how faster it was compared to the wrx when it wasnt priced against the wrx. I'm not doubting you beat it on a timed course or any other course for that matter. Anyone can beat anyone.
