350 whp STi vs LS2 GTO

Have you guys seen the Video of the stock GTO vs the 350 whp STi. They raced a couple times from a roll and it was really close but the GTO slowly pulled on the STi.

Maybe later when I'm at home, I will provide a link to the video.

Over in LS1GTO.COM there's an on going thread in the kill section with a video of a stock GTO beating a 350 whp STi from a roll.
Being a former STi and WRX owner, I've been sticking up for the Suby community. A 350 whp STi should be able to beat a stock GTO from a roll.
But most of the GTO guys seem to disagree with me.

What do you guys think? Don't you guys think that a well tuned 350 whp STi should walk away from a stock GTO from a roll?

The STi should be able to outrun the GTO, all things being equal. Maybe the STi driver sucked or it didn't really have 350 awhp, like stated. Too many variables to say either way without a video and seing both owners explain what is done to their cars.

I would think that it would be in the STI favor. I have an 02 WRX making 250WHP and im not too knowledgable on GTOs i know theres 2 engines that are in the GTO and and i raced a GTO with the lesser of the 2 and he BARLEY pulled on me from a roll.

STi should def. be walking away from it.

A stage2 STi only makes ~ 300-315whp and still manages to trap 107-110 which is at if not above a GTO trap speed. Add another 30-40whp to the STi and it should pulling pretty hard on the GTO. I would have to think that in the vid the STi was not making that much power, or the STi started in the wrong gear.

I think that is a WRX dressed up as an STI. Notice the rear quarter panel of the Subaru. And I don't think an 18g would push 350whp in a 2.5L engine. Where was the said power stated anyway?

looks like a 04 STi. the pic showing is a 05 STi.

and he did not have 350hp. considering the weight of the goat, a STI w/ 350 hp should of done better than that especially a stock goat.

^^^ Yea, I guess you're right. The 2004 STI didn't have the kind of rear panel 05+ STI.

Looks like an STi to me, what's actually done and to what whp...who knows.

Dyno numbers are funny as some dyno's read quite a bit lower or higher than one another.

I always equate 300whp with ~110 trap speeds.

    +1 on the dyno numbers.

That's why dynoracing is always fun

The guy that posted the thead over in LS1GTO.com (kill section) said that the STi made 350 whp. I believe he provided a link to where the STi was dynoed and tuned.
And even if it was a WRX, if it had 350 whp, it should still be fast enough to pull on a stock GTO from a roll.

Maybe that 350whp was made on an "ego-maker" dyno.

Either way though, he is running 18G and a tuned 18G STi should have no trouble with a stock GTO at any speeds.

I retract on that STI being a WRX... nonetheless, a 350whp should be able to take on the stock GTO... but it didn't.

    Point was already made.
