Not add fuel to the fire but if you find Road and Track a creditable mag, then thier 1/4mi time for a stock 6.0 gto was only 13.7 @ 103mph compared to the SRT8 13.3 @108mph, so I could honestly see why I didn't so bad against that gto.

I really do not think edmounds drives the cars like what R&T does trying to get real world #s. I think my grandma could get 14.1 with an STI

You'd be suprised how many people can't drive, or don't really like the idea of dropping from ~5500. Did you say you had run your car at the track- if so time/trap?

    13.7 @ 103 for the LS2 6.0 GTO is pathetic.

No, I never said that I had ran my car at the track.. I said (if you read the post correctly) that Road&Track (if you find them a creditable mag) put the 6.0 gto through the paces.

I traded my '04 stage 1 WRX for an '06 GTO M6 in November. From a dig, the WRX would have an advantage (even a novice driver) due to the AWD. However, a semi-experienced GTO driver with some discipline (read: keeping his foot completely off the go pedal at launch) could mitigate the rex's advantage. Since you really don't get into the turbo on the '04's until 3200-3500 and the GTO is pulling like a freight train once it gains traction, I can only see it as a driver's race for the first hundred yards. After that, the constant torque in every gear would have eaten my lunch easily in the WRX. Not knocking the rex - I loved that car and would love to have it for a daily driver vs. the obscene gas mileage with 400hp at the crank. But my bone stock, untuned, stock tire GTO is without question the fastest car I've driven.
If mine's that fast as an M6, I'd hate to see the auto where you don't have to modulate the clutch and traction control for a good launch. From a roll, forget about it - instant torque wins the day for the goat. Mods, however on both sides could make this a more interesting post, but stock for stock I'd put my $$ on the goat.

    Yeah it's new lingo.

it's not hating, it's amazement more than anything. I have no reason to 'hate' a WRX.

No. We are just used to reading threads of WRX's beating everything from Lamob's to SRT-4's. And you should know by now, SRT-4's are unbeatable. Pretty soon WRX's will be unbeatable too.
