Here, I just went out at hit 120, for the guy who posted the specs of the escort topping out at 119.

120 mph - 5'th gear, @ 5,600 rpms. Plenty of rpms left to hit 130 BTW, every time I maxed the car, it was at 7,600 rpms in 5'th going well past the speedo's 120 marker, into the blackness of the gauge cluster.

Ashleys laying next to me, and agreed to run another race. The video will speak for itself.

The seat belt light is always on, The plug going to the shoulder belt on the drivers side is broken, so the light stays on. When the passenger side shoulder belt, is not connected it stays on also I belive. (there is no passenger seat at all, so no belt connected ever.)

I was definitly wearing both my belts though!

Um, I hate to be a pedantic ass (ok, that's a lie ) and I realize this has nothing to do with the point you were making, but... you are aware that there was at least one model of V4 produced, right?

I was doing some research on a Ford escort internet forum. I asked a moderator of the site what the limiters are on my 94 EGT. The reply I got was, the gearing has the potential to max out at 144, but the vehicle is limited to 134.

Severeal other members of the board laughed and said "thats all you did" when I posted the 120 picture, claiming they have all went beyond 120 into the darkness of the speedometer as well regularly. (nobody has a modded ECU there who said it.)

It is possible that I started pulling way at the top end, because the WRX maxed at 130* where somebody in this thread, specificed it was limited to? Where as I had 4 mph more to make.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that information. Was going to run it this evening, but the weather is crummy & raining, so we'll do it another day.

I have seen a dyno run posted for a 2liter WRX wagon auto somewhere. It was 131hp. A 2liter manual usually produced about 159hp on the wheels. The wagon guy made all kids of excuses about it not being broken in and all, but you get the idea about the performance of a stock 2.0 WRX auto. If the Escort really weighs only 2500 pounds and has a manual I can see this happening.

you're comparing whp to rated engine hp?

...anyways. power-2-weight still says it was driver error.

I was comparing a wheel dyno run between a stock 2 liter WRX with auto trans and a stock 2 liter WRX with manual trans. Pretty big difference huh? They both ran on the same dyno. I saw it posted in NASOIC somewhere.

Supposing that the WRX weighs 3140 pounds and makes 131whp, the 2230 pound Escort would only need 91whp to match the power to weight ratio. If the WRX makes a little more, like 140whp or so, it is still possible for the Ford to win. If the WRX made 150 whp, the Ford would still only need 106whp, which is entirely possible with the efficient ( but crappy driving) setup of FWD.

Most of the variation in hp readings comes from the variation between an actual brake dyno like a Mustang dyno (= lower readings) and an inertia dyno like a Dynojet (= high readings).

Escort GT = 127 crank hp, 2355 pounds, and if the driver is right, 2355-125=2230 pounds from his weight loss program.

    http://consumerguideauto.howstuffwor...d-escort-4.htm

Not hard belive over 106hp to the ground, plus the Ford has 5 gear ratios, not 4, and the trans in the Sube not being "preshifted", I can see it losing to the Ford.

Being 910 pounds lighter is like having boost everywhere- all the time at all rpms in any gear. Weight is death.

Interior currently only has a drivers seat, and a dash board (not shown in pics but you get the point, its empty.) No A/c system, and soon.. lexan windows and sunroof delete.

It's fun to drive, kinda like a Go-Kart is fun to drive, !

That is all the sound deadening, removed from the entire vehicle. I had it in there just for a picture, it's long gone in the trash.

Nice race dude! This is a pretty funny thread and makes the impossible seem possible. The Escort is probably one of the least liked cars of all time, which I think adds to the obnoxious factor of the victory. Good kill. When you film the next race make sure you film one when she leaves it in Drive and then one when she puts it in 3 to show the difference.
