You don't have to pay for it only the cable which is really nice to have just for datalogging. If you want you can download the software now, download a rom as well and use it on a romfile on your desktop.

And if you're not tuning yourself you can still get your rom edited by tuners that allow you to mail them your ROM and then they modify it and send it back to you. If I'm not mistaken that's what Fimotorsports has done to his.

The price is definately appealing ($90 for the taxtrix cable, I believe) But it is kind of daunting too because I don't know chit about messing with car ECUs.

Like I said before though, I am hopefully going to be waiting it out. I want the best for my car because I don't want to blow it up.

They do a lot of cars and some are going to blow up, everyshop runs into that problem, they do a lot more cars up here in the Northeast than most other shops so the numbers could fool you that way. Also, it is not always the shop's fault when a car goes boom. I have seen plenty of idiots get their car done right and then neglect it, or just run it way too hard and bad things happen.

Personally, I have never had a problem with a car I took to them, my Evo will be the 4th car I use XX Tuning with. My STi, Cobra, and Lightning all had work done there and they all survived without popping, while I had them at least, I don't know what happened later but I haven't heard any bad news. I have quite a few friends that have used them and many of them have been problem-free but their are a couple of knuckleheads that blew up their engines too. So I know it does happen. But it happens everywhere, just look at this thread, lol.
