WRX vs Ion Redline

ok me and my friend were having a little hissy fit over which car is faster stock for stock. i say the wrx is faster and obviously he disagrees. he said he saw a redline with just exhaust beat a WRX and the stock wrx ran a 15.5. i said bull**** he must be a terrible driver. so who would win in a 1/4 drag?

a 15.5 is a horrible time for a stock wrx. I am pretty sure that the wrx would easily beat a redline.

2005 Subaru Impreza WRX:
Top speed : 147 mph
0-60 mph : 5.7 sec.
0-¼ mile : 14.4 sec @ 94.3 mph
60-0 braking distance : 130 ft.

2005 Saturn Ion Redline:
Top speed : 144 mph
0-60 mph : 6.3 sec.
0-¼ mile : 15.3 sec @ 94.5 mph
60-0 braking distance : 121 ft

usually I don't condone internet bench racing but this is pretty obvious that there is no contest.

unless the WRX was a stock automatic.. They dont run as fast as their manual counterparts... believe me, i have one

lol but it is still fun ass hell to drive

I could def. see a stock wrx running 15.5 because believe it or not, a lot people put out those times because they have no clue how to launch the car. But of course, when driven properly the wrx is capable of MUCH better times.

From a stop the wrx is going to take over and from a higher roll it will be close seeing as both trap similarly and make similar hp numbers.

yea thats what i was thinking. the wrx had more hp and torque and its awd. the ion is fwd.

my friend has a redline and beats 06 wrxs stock from a roll that is. I believe i have seen him beat 2 but i think its just the driver. I pull him by a couple of cars in my 03wrx stage 2 though. But from a stop the wrx will def rape it. btw he pulled a 14.6 in the redline best stock and i have seen 06s go like 13.8

Yeah, the Impreza would win, (pending a good driver,) bar none. Even the autos (which I have too

) tested a 0-60 of 6.4 by Motor Trend, so even an auto is .1 behind a manual redline, both stock. Heck, switch to sythentic, or get a basic mod, and an auto would tie or win just stock.

But yeah, especially from a roll? The WRX FTW!!!

I'm assuming both of you and your friend do not own either of the car. If so, I think this whole thing is useless unless actually proven by both of you by doing a drag race on a 1/4 mile track.

Unless both of you do own of such cars, it'd be a great and intriguing results to find out, because I'd like to know myself.

It is a rare thing in here to see WRX take on Cobalt or Redline for that matter.

Not to burst your bubble, but the numbers given on the redline above were rather conservative and many people see mid-high 14's with them. A stock auto wrx is going to have trouble pulling one from a dig even.. and from a roll, the wrx will get wasted.

Keep in mind - those are the numbers for 2005 - 2006 should have better numbers. Torque FTW.
