I got up next to a dude yesterday in a VTEC Acura something-or-other (Integra?). It was one of those places where you are at a stoplight and the road narrows from 2 lanes to 1 in a hurry right after the light. I just sat there waiting at the red light wondering if he was going to punch it and try to run me into the curb or if he wasn't going to try to beat me through the merge at all. As soon as the light turned green I got my answer. I just started out normally (no fancy launch with high revs or anything) and floored it (no wheel spin of course) and I heard his engine winding up fast right next to me. He did wanna race! As soon as I shifted to second he fell back a car length or 2 and I merged in to the now single lane with a healthy distance between the 2 of us. 0-50 and the race was over! It made my day and I smiled all the way to work! For the record- I don't usually smile on the way to work. Love my stock Rexie!!!
By the way: No, my beautiful daughter pictured at left was not with me during this irrational display of dangerous and irresponsible behavior.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
I love when 2 lanes merge into one, especially when there is a stoplight and somebody behind you decides they'll get into the next lane to try to get in front of you. Usually it's some SUV. I drive just fast enough to remain just in front of them - really pisses them off.
Hells yea! +1 for merging.
