    03 WRX vs. 04 GLI

Had a chance to mess around with an 04 GLI Jetta tonight. His mods included: AEM CAI and REVO tuned ECU. Mine are: AEM CAI ( ) and open DP.

REMEMBER!!! All events took place on a closed track.

Ran maybe 10 to 12 times total. From a stop I completely destroyed him. We also went from 30, 40, 45, 50, 60, and 75mph up to around 120ish. From 30 and 40 I would get the jump at the beginning (maybe 1 car length) and then he would start to catch up by 120. From 45 on up, whoever got the jump would get ahead and stay ahead by maybe .5 car length the whole way.

Overall these VWs seem like very nice cars. The ECU tuning really sets them free.

Cliff's Notes: From a dig: AWD FTW
    From a slow roll: Me
From a fast roll: Driver's race.

Yes, the VW's that are factory boosted respond very well to mods.... particularly ecu upgrades. If all he was running was a REVO tuned for CAI, he should really consider getting a full exhaust and freeing everything up and THEN getting it re-tuned. With the exhaust and re-tune he would pull you pretty well from a roll.

You should consider a BOV and/or MBC.

I should! Which ones would you recommend?

Next up is Megan UP and either Megan DP or a custom TBE...

I found this custom BOV for you. Should add at least 25 hp. That foo in the GLI won't know what hit him.

By open downpipe do you mean an open stock downpipe cause thats not a mod and hardly going to help you. By a up/down pipe combo and a Mbc and get rid of the intake that would be your cheapest bet if you wanna keep up other than geting EM which if you had that it would be a whole different story

By open DP I mean I took my HKS CBE off because I'm selling it. I know it doesn't add much in terms of power, but it sounds good, and I don't have any other CBE to put on it right now.

I plan on getting an OEM intake as soon as I can find somebody willing to trade me. I do not plan on getting an MBC though. Hopefully by Christmas time I'll have an OEM intake and AP. (Stage 2!)

Hehe. This setup actualy produces more power on a turbo application.
