Holy Christopher Columbus that is an impressive time for the stock 06. Makes me wonder what kind of times I'll hit when I get the Utec, txs catless tbe, apexi avc-r ebc, one step colder spark plugs, and short ram installed this up coming week (04 STi).

If a 06 TR can run that with such minimal mods, why does a stage 2 sti run high 12's????

should i just sell the STi and get a TR so save on insurance and fuel!!!

supsension brakes and a tranny i dont have to worry about is still worth it. Problem with STI is any turbo upgrade thats worth doing is gonna get you 400whp. I said problem ha, but seriously thats pretty damn impressive for a 06 wrx.

Thanks. This was the thread I started after running that time:

Still feel she could have gone 13.6 bone-stock but I'll never know. I got 225/45/17 Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712's mounted 2 weeks ago and this past week I bought a Blitz LM panel filter. When I go back to the track in the early Fall for more runs, she'll still be 'stock' but no longer factory or showroom stock...

I am going to bet that the 06 WRX that was racing weighs about 200-300 (or even more) lbs less than our cars. They already weigh about 100 less from the factories and he has weight reduction

Also, the 5spd will save on one additional shift in the 1/4 over the STI's 6mt...

I'll make a deal with you, no need to sell your STI, I'll swap you my 06 ltd wrx for your sti+ a few bucks (I'm sure my 06 has less miles on it).

In case you didnt get the other peoples post the STI far out weights the 06 wrx as far as bargins go. Straight line performance only equates to about 30% of the whole picture.

While I agree that the extra shift hurts, the STi will out accelerate a WRX even if it is making the exact same WHP in its 1-4 gears due to the much shorter gears. I am pretty sure that will negate the extra time it takes to shift; in fact I would wager that if the above mentioned 06 WRX would be faster with the six speed.

While the STI gears are much shorter, 1st gear is so short it's almost useless in drag racing. From what I've been told, you literally have to make an upshift to 2nd very shortly after your launch - sometimes while your tires are still spinning.

On modified cars, taller gears can actually help to lower 1/4 mile times by improving traction.

They're a lot of factors at play and obviously we're splitting hairs.

And then at that point you need to worry about the motor, lol
