I'm curious as to what they are planning I've seen a few statements that lead me to believe a performance hybrid crossover. Or hybrid performance vehicle of some sort.

Sad to see such a performer go away. Bittersweet really, IMO the only thing Mitsu had going for it.

But on the inside, this is how I really feel.

Sad to see a performance car go away but I have spoken to a few people who have owned the newer ones and they seemed to have a lot of problems with them and the dealer never wanted to cover anything under warranty. Apparently being 20 something = abuse to the car regardless of evidence, even though this person did nothing but daily drive it.

The Evo was my dream car during the Evo VIII / IX generation. It is tragic Mitsubishi wants to end this legend to pursue more environmentally friendly markets.

That's tragic? I think it's the right step. Environmentalism is of utmost importance.

It would be fine if they wanted to have a complete, top-to-bottom line up of Prius-esque vehicles to saturate the market... but there's no reason the Evo couldn't co-exist. Toyota has a lot of hybrids in their line-ups but they still make cars like the 86, RC F, Tundra TRD, etc.

Why not have quick, fun-to-drive eco-friendly alternatives?

Since the replacement is rumored to be a hybrid, I think it's a solid step and time to retire the Evo. Subaru should consider the same.

They're going hybrid after all?! It's about time! This is the correct direction. The sooner we get rid of gasoline engines entirely, the better.
