2005 WRX vs 2007 Mustang GT

I'm gonna be doing some runs with a buddy on the track. I have an up pipe, catback, intake, and MT while he has a axel back, tune, and AT. I think he'll obviously take me from a roll but he's adament that he'll beat me from a dig. What do you guys think?

I would guess he'd run low 13's, and you'll run mid-high 13's. But at the end of the day, you're racing a mustang, so there are no winners

All depends on his gears and tires. Those cars in auto can be quick but with just a tune hes probably a high 13 low 14 et car without a sticky tire. Ive built a bunch of those cars so the dig might be where you get him

his gears were a little bit laggy before the tune and he was saying that his tires at the rear wheels were pretty worn. it's just hard for me to believe that he can take me from a dig.

for what its worth he's beat my buddy's 328i and a stage 2 gli from a dig and roll and they weren't very close races.

WRX's aren't built to be drag cars. Lets hope you don't destroy your Transmission. Drag racing has a lot to do with experience and the drivers driving abilities as well. So honestly, who knows how this race could go. You could beat him off the line with your AWD but if you have a bad launch he could easily beat you. However, no matter your start, he should beat you in the 1/4 mile every time, no doubt.

With those mods, the OP should run low 14s in the 1/4

In the quarter mile, the Mustang will absolutely take a (nearly stock) EJ205 WRX. And that's from a dig.

EJ205 WRXs tend to run low 14s at ~95mph
    4.6L 3-valve Mustangs will run about a 13.5 at ~103mph bone stock

If he's tuned, it's possible it will be closer to low 13s at 105.

    That's a pretty good beatdown.

That's what I'm thinking. I mean I'm not sure how much an AT effects this since I think the tune got rid of any laginess in his shifts.

When he raced my buddies 328i he destroyed him from a dig by a couple cars but from a roll he only beat him by maybe a car or so. Not sure how that worked out haha. When I raced the 328i from a roll I took him by about a car. 328i is tiptronic btw.

side note: we were thinking about running an 1/8 mile since both of us agree that he would take me pretty easily in a quarter.

That definitely makes it more of an even race

I meant more he will have him off the launch not necessarily the win. But the mustang depends alot on what rear gears it has a tuned auto Gt with bald tires and 3.27 gears could be tuned and will still have a hard time even breaking into the 13s now this is all very dependant on sea level, temperature and driver skill. To many variables so you just have to race to see!
