They did 0-60 in 4.9 seconds.... in 1989 They cancelled it though, I'm sure because they realized it would decimate corvette sales. Back then the corvettes were around 5.7 to 0-60.
Syclones and typhoons had a 4.3L turbo, if I recall correctly. And they were awd and automatics...

Yep. 4.3L Turbo. Fantastically fast buggers from the factory... would run 13 flat in the quarter stock.

I should get an award for my first thread hitting over 60 replays lol...even though some off topic it's been an enjoyable read...I read an article that back in 1987 the last g body car off the assembly line in Pontiac Michigan was a Grand National... From then most everything car wise went front wheel drive with the exception of corvette, Camaro and Transam. I also " I-tuned "a video called "black air"....very cool documentary!

syclones are the best. Me and my pal in high school always wanted one of those, or a foxbody, then we got into imports because we realized we had no money and enjoyed turning corners more than the drag strip.

You must know of the C5 Corvette? Very potent track car. Also the newer Mustangs can be very competitive with only minor suspension modifications. True though, most of the older muscle cars weren't that nimble.

...Yeah, cause us (then) high school teenagers could afford a corvette or a newer mustang. Even then, the newer mustangs at the time (05 v6 and 07 GT are the models I drove) handled like a boat in my opinion without modification. Newest models I've been told are excellent like the '12 and '13 v6 and boss 302 etc. ..However, those didn't even exist when we were buying cars.

We couldn't afford to build a foxbody or even buy a syclone and made the judgement that 80's muscles were a bad idea for our situation, also they would be our daily drivers. I ended up with an RSX, then got my WRX. I don't regret it. The cars we bought turned out to be much better cars for us, our budgets, our interests, and our age.

Even the new Mehstang handles like a boat. Ford slapped on wide wheels and got it to handle a corner woohoo
