This is a discussion on 2013 wrx vs. 2013 genisis coupe within the Comparison: WRX vs World forums, part of the Community - Meet other Enthusiasts category; I wouldn't be interested in the Gen Coupe unless they put the same 5.0 from the sedan....

I wonder why they don't offer that. Coupe V6 weighs 3433lbs, Sedan V6 weighs 3824, and the Sedan V8 weighs 4046. So using dumby math a V8 Coupe if it did exsist would probably weigh 3644(ish)

429hp and 376tq in a 3600lb RWD Coupe would be a lot of fun!

Touche On top of that the GT would probably be cheaper. Genesis V8's are something like 47k I believe

I considered the Gen Coupe when shopping around for a sports car. It's a great car for "someone", but wasn't a good match for me...too heavy, and some reviews that indicated that driven hard, the parts don't really work all that well together. I probably should have gone ahead and test-driven one, but for some reason my heart wasn't into the car. Jay is right, though..it's probably a great car for most people!
I did drive it, and coming from a Tiburon and my girlfriend driving a 2013 Elantra Coupe, I really wanted to like the Genny. It just didn't win my heart over. It performed acceptably well, but didn't have any soul. Maybe that's my subjective interpretation of the "parts not working together." It surely didn't make me smile like the Rex does, or feel as pure as driving a FRS/BRZ.

I've yet to ever meet someone who drives a genesis coupe who was a gearhead, or really knew much about cars in general.

I don't know, once I learned that it's the same engine (tuned differently) that is in the evo x...

If ECU tuning and cam/mods can be applied it is a far better buy than a Ralliart imho. Especially because it comes in MT..and cheaper

In a broad sense. It's not the SAME engine, but the two engines share components (4B11T and Theta4). It is an attempt to standardize parts across multiple manufacturers and bears the name GEMA. Those of you attuned to Car Culture may also remember that a GEMA engine was used for the Caliber SRT-4 .

The GEMA group spans Mitsubishi, Chrysler, and Hyundai.

    Interesting feedback, thanks.
I have zero regrets about my BRZ purchase. No, it's not even slightly a drag racer, but there's this neat little roundabout near where I work, and...well...you know where I'm going with that. It sounds amazing, and the control is unlike anything else I've ever owned.

I owned an FRS for 8 months as my daily driver. It's a beautiful car with amazing handling and road feel. If I could have a second car it'd be a brz/frs It's a great car. Slides any way you want.
