Probably because they're heavy and dont launch as fast. Couldn;t tell you, dont care for them. But I know 400 ft lbs of torque is not slow, especially considering there's no turbo lag

Love how every thread on the WRX vs World forum becomes a damned troll haven.

but seriously, if looking at an 09, look at the build date. that is the biggest piece of advice i can give.

Pshhh...you obviously haven't tried it in the reverse racing gear. Backwards is so much faster. Puts it in Funny Car territory.

I thought "R" was for Rally? I shouldn't be dropping it from 3rd to Rally when I want to go fast?

well OP maybe i can be of some help. as i owned a 2005 Mustang GT and now own a 2013 WRX

first i have to ask. what do you want to do with the car? drag race? auto-x? straight daily driver?
ill compare some points from my experiences

    1. my mustang averaged about 16mpgs daily driving it. i average about 23-24 on the daily in my wrx.

    2. mustang sounded amazing with borla stingers. wrx sounds cool. but not mustang cool. but my mustang didnt make any turbo sounds so its all relevant to your personal desires.

    3. the mustang is cramped compared to the wrx, interior quality is about the same id say, ford isnt the best, and subaru isnt really any better, mustang has a way better stereo, i had the shaker 500 though, i prefer my wrx cloth seats to the flat and slippery mustang leather seats. mustang shifter is much better than the wrx. but a SS is needed in either car IMHO.

    4. from a roll your mustang will probably beat, or at least keep up with a 09+ wrx. my stock gt spanked my buddies stg2 bugeye from a roll. which is within 20 or less whp of a stock 09+ wrx. even off the line if i feathered the clutch and launched perfectly i could stay side by side with him until about 40 when i would pull away. stock 5-spd gt with factory 3.55's mind you.

    5. the mustang was a blast to take to the drag strip. im more hesitant to drag race my wrx as hard or as often as i did my stang. in fact i havent been at all yet. just something to think about

    6. lastly, i wouldnt trade my wrx for anything. not for an sti, not for a 5.0 stang, not for anything. i love having 4 doors, a big trunk, good power, a smoking 0-60 time if i feel so inclined, and decent gas mileage to boot.

Dunno. My Dad's 2010 Mustang GT is butt-slow. I feel that even my bugeye when it was stage 2 was faster.

Not that he gives a rat's ass whatsoever.
