It has good initial acceleration numbers because it "cheats" with AWD. It has OK midrange times from 45-75 because of available TQ at whatever RPM that is, but no real top end.

That's why a lot of WRX lose from higher speed rolls.

But on the other hand I don't think the WRX is all that heavy, it has AWD and it just has a small amount of displacement for how heavy it is.

A Mustang GT has a big engine and a great powerband, and even though it will run circles around a WRX, I think it will always feel heavy even with simple weight reduction.

I really like the Mustang GT but after seeing that it's basically the same size as a 4-door Sedan WRX (the Mustang is longer actually) it reiterates how porky the Mustang is.

I was being simple... a smallish turbo and gearing are a big part of it too.

Honestly I'm still learning about WRXs so correcting me would be helpful...and is one of the reasons why I'm here and not on the "other" forum.

Sounded like a reasonable explanation to me.

There is no replacement for displacement.

My LGT ran with supercharged Mustangs and other cars that were far from stock. I had no complaints about my 2.5 liter displacement.

There were plenty of times someone in a "regular" performance car was surprised. A guy in what I assume was a stock C5 snickered when I downshifted. I let him hit it and the look of terror on his face when the turbo spooled was priceless. He didn't stay close for very long.

Air + fuel = power no matter how you get there. And yes, I know boost + displacement = even more fun.

Sorry, I forgot that most people buy and modify turbo cars to let them sit and idle in the driveway, looking at them in awe and imagining how they must drive. Then there's that exclusive subset of these owners that spend their days making smug replies on message boards to show just how much cooler they are.

Not sure if anyone here is serious - let's hope not.

Easy there, John. We can probably agree that there's plenty of philosophical room between garage queen and a streetracer.

Did your LGT have a cool wing, air dam, and smooth underbody so you could hit 88mph and activate the flux capacitor with 1.21 giggawatts? If not, you need to take a page out of Synolimit's book.
