A4s can be quite quick. And the interior is considerably nicer than any Subaru.

A BMW 328i will outhandle a WRX any day of the week in fair weather. In circuit racing (the only real test of a car and driver's capability), it would seem the 328i would be quite a formidable competitor, if not the better of the two.

It's really too bad the fuel economy was so poor on the outgoing 4.2L TFSI V8. Car and Driver averaged 16 MPG in mixed driving, 13 MPG in the city, and 9 MPG after spirited driving.

I contemplated a used V8 S4 last year when I was in the market. I love the idea of that car, but fuel economy and maintenance/repair costs drove me away.

My buddy's Quattro A4 was a beast to drive in the NC mountains; seemed like a great chassis. I noted that the car was also able to be shifted into reverse without me first "doing the Charleston" in the floorboard.

I'm not sure that the chassis is any stiffer, but that Torsen diff makes the car feel much more dynamic and planted. Torsen-based Quattro really is that much better than Subaru's implementation.

True ,,,The A4 can be quick but for the b7 A4 2.0T fsi engine to be equivalent to my stage 2 gti tsi it would need upgraded HPFP .. I was going to do it to my dads lease a few years ago if he was going to buy it

and the new A4 it has a butt load of torque stock and well over 300 tuned

the bmw 328i can out handle my gti too, but there isn't much in tuning until the most current generation 320i and 328i with the turbo

i agree i had the older s/c model but the newer tc were far better in suspenion, tq dampning, brembo's, make good power, and economy is good. i almost traded my ss in for a new one back in the day. glad i didnt though...its funny my buddy at my gym bought the exact car i had, same year same color etc. he keeps saying he can beat my stage 2 rex with his stage 2 cobalt. i keep telling him i had a stage 3 with more stuff and my rex is faster.i dont even like talking to him now cause all he does is talk bout racing.

In what market is the current 328i offered with a turbo?! From what I gather, it's always a 3.0L I6. The 335i has a turbo... or two if older....

Unless I'm wrong, the current US model 328i sedan is now a turbo 2.0 liter four cylinder. I'm still getting used to the idea, as well.

Not entirely sure about the M3 question. I know that there isn't yet an F30-based model, but don't know if they're still marketing the older one.

i've had a few around my area too. from 'Stangs to Civics to even other Rex's... i pay it no mind. my enjoyment is limited to merging onto the highway. zooom!

i have a friend with an 04 or 05 S4. yeah, that thing is a pig. worse than my Magnum R/T was. it has a very solid feel to it... but again, his gas miledge was in the low teens average. NFW. that's one of the reasons i got rid of my magnum... (gas, disposable front ends).
