I can only assume "it" is referring to an aircraft engine, so yes, you are correct. The aircraft engine is a rotary. Ok, I answered. You still mad?

It would if it had a rotary engine and a Wankel powered conveyor belt.

Well in all seriousness this business of somehow insisting that a Wankel is a rotary is in my view a result of opportunism on the part of those who push on with the Wankel.

Both motors have severe... well, let's call them limitations. The rotary for example does have total loss oiling. The Wankel... anyway, I think my picture of the beautiful yellow Mazda with the bonnet pointed at the sky says it all. If both motors had taken their rightful place in history, I don't think this discussion would have taken place.

However, Mazda have apparently bought rights to IP and simply keep throwing good money after bad, and is they that are at fault for generating this confusion in modern times. If they had simply ceased production it would only be a matter of time before nobody is too concerned with whether a Wankel is a rotary. They continue making Wankels though, and since rotaries are now outmoded by radials and inlines, there is nobody around to correct the Mazda lingo.

Mazda cannot change nomenclature in my mind any more than they can make a Wankel surpass a piston motor. However it seems PR goes a long way. In any case I hope the OP doesn't think I'm sitting in front of a monitor ranting and raving with pictures of Wankels that have had bid red Xs drawn through them on my walls (because it's not unlikely... Heh heh).

    Great fun thread!

You're absolutely right. There's nothing on the PLANET better than the WRX.

Personally, I think Subaru's interior has gotten drastically worse since my Bugeye.
