If the 135i wasn't nearly double the cost of the WRX, I'd be driving one today, no question. The power that motor delivers is so linear and deliciously strong at the bottom end.
Edit: If the 120d 5-door were available in the US, I would pay just about anything they'd ask for it.

IIRC, the Impreza has slightly more ground clearance, so it can tackle the school-zone speed bumps with less concern for bottoming-out.

My dad is a BMW guy through and through (he has a 2008 335i), but he likes to tell me that the WRX is the car that BMW can't make anymore. They tried really hard with the 135, but they really can't even dip into the same market with a car that's so expensive.
Also, modifications are fun.

No mods - YET
I go through cycles where I convince myself that BMW is the perfect make for me...but then when I drive one it fails to rock my world. I need the visceral experience, and at a reasonable price for purchase/maintenance.
