For as much as they cost now though, you could make dozens of cars that fast. The newest ones are pretty fast for stock but the anything older...

the new GT is a 13 second car for sure. There are a few in town. id like to go down to the track and run a few in the SRT. i dont know if the WRX could hang with the new stang. it would be close. but the 2007 is not a 12 second car stock. im not sure you could get into the 12s without spending at least 10K on the 2007

It couldn't. The new 5.0 Mustang will smoke the WRX on any tarmac track (being 1/4 mile drag or circuit). I still wouldn't drive one, though :-|

I'm glad they brought back the 5.0. However...I still hate mustangs, and they really don't perform THAT well in anything other than a straight line environment. Once they get IRS...maybe.

I'm pretty sure that the newest Mustang does have IRS, but I don't really pay that much attention

Nope. It still has that same live-axle rear suspension. Even the Boss 302 and the Shelby G350 (new models) have the same live-axle suspension. The only mustangs to receive IRS (IIRC), were the 1999-2004 Cobra.

I think what Ford has done with the Mustang is excellent. I'm into cars with a more nimble feel, so it probably wouldn't make my short list..but that's a personal preference thing.

I wonder if the new mustangs would still be lame and boring like they were prior to the new Camaro if the new Camaro never existed....?

Eh. I have test driven all the Modern Day Muscle cars (Challenger SRT8, Mustang GT, Camaro SS). Wasnt impressed with the mustang, felt mediocre and not the type of car to stand out considering every other person out there has a mustang. The Camaro had some balls, but it was way too big and you couldnt see out of it (very small windows and huge blind spots, not ideal for me). Challenger SRT8 impressed me the most, was the most comfortable, handled surprisingly well and put to torque to the ground.

When it comes to V-8 sports cars, im still a vette guy: They handle very well, they are light, alot of power, very good field of vision, efficient...ish. Also the vette community is pretty close knit, everyone waves at each other(tried doing the same thing in the WRX, but very little success, usually get the "derp" or stink-eye looks from the other drivers).

Is this common with those of you that have newer models? Bugeyes and Blobbies almost always return a wave for me.
