    vs. PT Cruiser Turbo???

Was driving home last night and had a PT Cruiser Turbo pass me on the interstate, slow down, get behind me, pass me on the right, then slow down again and ride next to me for a little. Didn't know what he had done to the car except that it had an annoyingly loud BOV. I didn't race because it was in the middle of Denver traffic and I'm not an idiot.

Has anyone taken on a Cruiser Turbo??

The thread got me wondering what one could do to a PTC, and the answer seems to be a Stage 1 setup that adds maybe 30HP. Modded they seem to run 6 secs/ 14.5 at best. Unless they've swapped in a different motor and drastically lightened the vehicle there is no area it can touch us.

No surprises there, but I always like to have an idea what other cars do and can run.

I don't think I could take anyone trying to race a PT Cruiser seriously....

The only mods you can do to it are stg1 setup? I find that hard to believe that you can't swap out the turbo and do all the general mods that all guys with turbo'd cars do. Then again I'm sure if you could do that, there would be more tools driving them around.

the motor and trans in the pt/gt are the same as the srt4 neon. the problem is in the plumbing of the pt. its completely different. so nothing from the neon fits the pt. usually. because the plumbing is different due to space requirements of the motor/ trans a larger turbo won't fit in the car unless it's relocated. add all this up and the fact that no one really liked it or bought it. you end up with very little aftermarket support.

although it is funny to see a pt cruiser with the very distinctive sound of a srt coming from it.

It's also funny to see them because they are butt ugly! I remember one time years ago when I was around 15 or so my mom had to put her car in the shop and she got a rental for a few days. She was all excited and wanted to show me it, so she led me to the garage and I open the door to see nothing other than a PT cruiser

    Also I notice you're in Lancaster! I'm a junior at F&M

My sister had a PT turbo, and it was actually pretty cool. It was quicker than 5.0 mustangs, which made it all worthwhile. She raced it at the track quite often, and used it as a DD for years. However, I'd never be caught owning one since it's a serious chick car. Mid to high 14s, nothing to worry about, unless you drive a new civic si...

I can see where someone would choose one. The PT actually has a pretty versatile interior. A prospective buyer might have liked that, and wanted added umph.
It's not too far removed from why i own a wrx wagon.

I've heard people say that about Miatas, then watched them get spanked around the Auto-X course by one with very mild mods

The Miata actually has a great consumer report, and must be a pretty nice car. I just cant get over the styling.
