direct injection, slightly larger and more modern turbo. that's about it.

Any drawbacks to direct injection?
Better fuel economy and/or more power sounds great.
Why doesn't Subaru do this?

cost to design and produce, cost to the customer/dealer to fix or repair. also if you wanted to upgrade to a larger injector later on the cost of them would be double. or triple.

Turbocharged Direct Injected Subaru powerplants are coming they have added it to the naturally aspirated versions. I'd also expect a new turbo when they do come making the STI produce 350hp easily.
The turbo fiesta coming here will have 243hp I beleive not 350

It would be interesting to see the torque curves for the engines in question. Good area under the curve, or just a really impressive peak number?

See what happens when you try and get an FQ400 to pass smog in the US. There is a reason its a UK only model. Plus they get 9mpg.The Evolution FQ400 gets 400 hp out of a 2.0L. Sorry, but as far as specific output is concerned, our Subies just aren't built for power
The FQ is a has a fully built block, nothing factory about it except it come from the factory. You can make 400hp with the ej257 with money.

I certainly wouldn't want it as a daily driver....

That's my point our subarus do pass emissions when they haven't been tampered with. The FQ's are not even legal in japan.

That ecoboost engine is slick. However, at 4300 lbs, that Taurus is entirely too bulky to be any fun
