But c'mon, we all like to live in fantasyland sometimes and bench race our cars, even if we don't ever do it in the real world. AWD obviously has benefits beyond "launch".
There's many an owner that would end up bogging their AWD turbo car on a launch... not anyone on this board though

This is a great point Rayfield.

AWD on a street legal car is a great track platform though... look at the GTR, some porsches, and lamborghinis. And if I want to throw a little Spiros in here... The old audi quattros and the lancia delta

The best part about the AWD though is that it's possible to drive a sports car in inclement weather. I've driven a corvette in just rain... Not fun at all.

As Sinister concurred to, this is a very true statement by RayfieldsWRX...

Unless I rev up and dump the clutch, my modded Subie basically goes like... light turns green, feather the clutch as I hit the gas, wait for the hit, then shift to 2nd at the appropriate RPM.

My RWD GTO goes like this though... light turns green, let the clutch out as I stomp the gas, instant hit, see what the traction gods give me...

    06 wrx vs. neon

okay so i have an 06 wrx with turbo manifold, 3" open dp, k&n typhoon intake and stage 2 AP running 16psi of boost and i rolled with my buddies 04 srt-4 with 3" dp, trinity tuner, stage 2 waste gate at 16 psi of boost, injectors, and solid engine mounts. we rolled from 30km/h to about 100, took him by a car, car and a half. then from a 50km/h to 140 and took him by half a car. Needless to say he was pretty choked. i mean yeah sure his car is half the price but given the fact that rolls ain't our bread and butter, im pretty happy with the outcome. Since then we installed a delta 44 on his car so ill post the outcome of round 2...

unfortunately I'm stuck with a 96 neon pos. 180k miles. its runs and that's about it. if my medical treatments continue to get better i may be able to afford something in a year or 2.
