Wow Jeremy...you really hit the nail on the head with ALL of that.

They really do need to step up and improve on quality of the ENTIRE car. Yes they have taken steps in the right direction and are starting to add nice creature comforts and all...but the quality of some materials, the build quality, and other comforts need to be considered now.

We all know very well that mechanically...Subaru is top notch. That is quality. But like Jeremy said, put a better audio system in. So many cars now days actually do have decent sounding systems. Not everyone wants to spend $500+ to upgrade.

The fuel economy will have to be improved going forward. How is it that even Ford can have a Mustang with a 300+ horsepower V6, and still get 31mpg or the Taurus SHO's 365hp TT'd V6 that gets high 20mpgs...and a 2.5L 4cyl Subaru can't manage 30mpg?

Some of these things, I hope they begin to start thinking about, outside of the box. And yes...bring us that diesel boxer!!!!

The AWD will make for fewer mpg #s ... and the flat four just isn't as efficient as Subaru would claim. If it was an efficient engine configuration, more manufacturers would be using it.

Direct injection will help, but as other inline and V* engines adopt it, the flat four will be behind again.

Subaru boasts lower center of gravity - this is true. Putting the engine ahead of the front axle makes for quirky handling at least partially negating the low center of gravity advantage.

Subaru = mostly solid engineering, but no real innovation.

This gets really subjective. I've failed to be impressed by nearly every stock sound system I've ever heard, even in some pretty high-dollar cars. The system in my G35c was 'eh, okay'...I was already hatching plans to upgrade (not a cheap task in an Infiniti) before I changed gears and decided to sell it.

I've been in a couple of German sedans that had systems that sounded good from the factory. I suppose part of the problem is my taste in music..I listen to everything from heavy metal down to Aaron Copland and baroque. It's a challenge for a system to do all of those things well.

0-60 is such a crap representation of acceleration, too many factors. Sorry man, don't mean to bash on you. The RS will toast both the STi and WRX in the quarter mile. The RS500 would be even more of a stretch. I believe it was Jeremy Clarkson who said that the RS is about as close to a full spec'd rally car as your going to find in a stock car. Plus that Ford-Volvo 5 cylinder... sweet jesus what WRC pedigree

    But that price tag? .....

There is something that's been confusing the piss out of me... when did the Euro market receive the 2.5L in the STi, was it after the introduction of the GE chassis?
