given the same driving abilities... who would win?
acceleration

he keeps bragging about it being all that but.. i'm not convinced. other than in the looks department.

If both cars are stock I am definitely putting money on the Porsche. My friend has one and lets me drive it and it handles very well. Much better than a stock WRX. It has better aerodynamics as well.
If you go to stage 2 and get a good tune with a swaybar in the rear then you will smoke him. I let my friend drive my car after I had done some mods and he definitely agreed that my car was better overall. Turbos rule.

what about in relation to say one with a stage two tune.. a wrx with the 2.5 ('06+?)

The Impreza is better only in that the opposite is true -- I'd love to own one but not to lease one. Adding more power or better handling isn't going to change that.
