my friend has an 01 base boxster 217 hp etc...

vs my stock 04 wrx. both manual

given the same driving abilities... who would win?

    acceleration
    cornering grip
    slalom
    passing power

    etc etc..

he keeps bragging about it being all that but.. i'm not convinced. other than in the looks department.

The Porsche is a sports car.

    The Subaru is not.

If both cars are stock I am definitely putting money on the Porsche. My friend has one and lets me drive it and it handles very well. Much better than a stock WRX. It has better aerodynamics as well.

If you go to stage 2 and get a good tune with a swaybar in the rear then you will smoke him. I let my friend drive my car after I had done some mods and he definitely agreed that my car was better overall. Turbos rule.

Although true, once the numbers are compared the cars are surprisingly close.

The Boxer has a 300# advantage. Given the driver of the Boxer does not make a mistake, he wins.

^^ this is in regards to acceleration.

As far as handling and such, most likely the Boxer.

It really isn't a matter of adding power to the Impreza or making the Impreza turn or stop better. The Boxster is very different and is the better car. I'd love to borrow or lease one, but not to own one.

The Impreza is better only in that the opposite is true -- I'd love to own one but not to lease one. Adding more power or better handling isn't going to change that.

I think the only area you have a chance is from a drag.

stock yeah... but the 2000 Boxster (likely similar to the 2001) only runs a 14.2 quarter @ 97 MPH. Stage 2 should remedy that gap pretty quick.

I was going to say that but the ts stated his car is stock so I was just giving my opinion on his question. Because handling wise we could throw some good tires and sway bars and boom you could argue the handling department too. But stock not a chance.
