    07 WRX Stg2 -Vs- 09 WRX Stg2

So i decided to go out for a drive friday night as i haven't been able to spend a whole lot of quality time with my car since i bought it... That and i just recently went stage 2 and wanted to see how the car felt under boost

Besides the occasional ricer throwing VTEC fits and dumping BOV's in my ear... nothing real exciting happened.

I was on my way home when i look in the rearview and see a bunch of HID's coming up behind me.
Turned out to be 3 subies, a blue 09 hatch, a blue 05 STI, and a black 09 sedan with COBB stickers in the rear windows and an exhaust from what i could hear so i figured it would be stage 2...

the sedan pulled up next to me at the light, the light turned green and we both just kinda slowly rolled off the line waiting for that moment lol... he punched it, and i followed pursuit.

1st gear we were almost dead even, grabbed 2nd and started to pull, grabbed 3rd and started to pull a little more... the end result was about half a car.
We get to the next light, same situation light goes green... slow roll off the line into WOT, this time i lurched forward a little off the jump, grabbed 2nd and pulled a little more, grabbed 3rd and continued to pull, end result was maybe around a car or so.

we all pulled over and talked for a while, cool bunch of guys and the 09 was in fact COBB stage 2...

First race ever in my new subie and the score is already in my favor...

    1-0

lets see what i can take down at the track in the next coming weeks.

Anybody got any input on how i was pulling on him... i was under the impression that the 09+ wrx was already faster than the 06-07 stock for stock, he should still be faster with stage 2 right?

he's got a perrin tune now and we played around a little last night, nothing really high speed but it seemed like we were about dead even, he said he thinks we would be an even race now compared to me pulling on him when he had the cobb tune.

are you sure it wasn't an '08? the body style was carried over to '09+.

could be alot of differences between the two cars. Weight, driver, gearing.. etc. You would need to literally compare all the specs car to car to eliminate any mechanical differences. From there its all driver.

If you're lighter than he is.. even making same or slightly less power you will be faster.

Logic would dictate that a car that started with at least 41 hp more, larger turbo, catless uppipe, better flowin intercooler, most likely less miles, etc, etc would walk a stg 2 07. I had a 07 sti slightly tunned,my current stage 2 09 is quicker, evident by the 06 sti I pulled on while stage one. I don't think he would be a dozen car lenghts but both cars with driver only a 09 should win everytime. Or at very least pull on you like you did to him.

    Well...

i have the TR, we compared curb weight and my car is 300lbs lighter, the cobb site said something like 311bhp and 318tq for the 09 stage 2 flash... for the 07 it's 290bhp and 340tq, i have the bullwinkle stage 2 so it's most likely around 300bhp and 350tq(?)

only conclusion we could come to is that my TR is 300lbs lighter with more tq.

get your buddy (with the 09) to the track with you. Do a few passes and compare the times/traps. Then get out of your car and into his, him into yours and make a few more passes.

    I vote for this method

Track being the important thing here.

If you do this on the surface roads, you're a ****ing idiot.

Where are you getting your numbers? they seem really high even for stage 2. Also i figured the 09+ would have more power at stage 2 unless you got a few other supporting mods.

The WRX TR is only 50 pounds less than the standard WRX, not sure where you came up with 300

he was comparing the 09 WRX to his TR.

Are the '09s heavier than his sedan? Because I was under the impression the hatches/wagons were heavier by a scosh
