07 WRX Stg2 -Vs- 09 WRX Stg2

The WRX is not a drag car no matter how you look at it. Even if a 2009+ WRX ran a high 12 @ 104, it is still slow compared to many modern cars. The US is seeing a resurgence of the muscle car era (albeit with better emissions and fuel consumption). The new 2011 Mustang GT with proper tires will be able to pull a mid 12 seconds at 112 MPH... and it's similarly priced.

Buy a N/A or supercharged V8 if you want to drag race.

i've met the guy and seen the car that goes with that 12 sec stock 09 wrx slip. i still don't believe it. he has a slip he showed me with a 106 trap speed. car is a least flashed.

I never understood why people try to trick people. We're not idiots. It's like that guy on iwsti with a stock turbo sti running 11's. I'm an acquaintance of someone who has tuned his good friends cars and they all said he had deadbolt upgrade the turbo but keep the stock housing. And when called out about it he never acknowledged it. Anyone can say it's stock. Hell I can say my car is stock but it's 100% bs. lol

The new mustang is a great car now. But until GM and Dodge figure out how to make an american muscle car that doesnt weigh right at 4,000 pounds will keep me from ever buying a camaro or challenger.

meh. I'll I'm saying is that if you're one of those chaps who is concerned about 1 or 2 MPH trap speed, you have bought the wrong car.

But what I'm saying is no one was even talking about that. The closest was a the guy who said an 09' did a high 12 at 106 and he didn't believe he was stock. Then you go to well they aren't drag cars if you want that buy an na or supercharged na. No one was claiming the wrx to be a drag car or even thought about mentioning v8's so do you see where someone would read it and say wtf is this dude rambling about and why? lol

wtf are you talking about? the whole thread has been about wether or not a stage 2 2007 WRX is faster than a stage 2 2009 WRX in a straight line. I'm suggesting that the difference really is minimal and if you are THAT concerned about a few MPH trap speed, you bought the wrong car.

I want to test drive one as well. If they are as good as Motortrend claims, it could redefine cheap American muscle. But, with that live-axle rear end, I'm not keeping my hopes up...

Right, 2 wrx's going in a strait line the guy is talking about, not did he buy the right car for drag racing and how he should buy a v8 if he cares. He had a valid question regarding the performance of each car. Not I'm trying to run as fast as I can at the drag strip.

But either way an 06/07 stage 2 wrx is just as fast if not a tiny bit faster then a stock 09.

Curious as to why you say this. VF52 vs. TD04 seems like a no-brainer to me. Does the extra weight the '09 carries really make that much difference?
