2006/2007 STI vs 2008-2010 STI?

I'm in the market for a new or new-used car within the next year and I've looked at a bunch of options, but the STI seems to have all the criteria I'm looking for in a price range I'm seeking. My biggest question though is other than styling, what are the major differences between the 2006/2007 STI and the 2008-2010 STI's and is it worth the extra money to get one of the new ones disregarding the styling. Truth is, the look of the wagon is growing on me and I know the sedan model is coming back out in 2011. Are the new ones any better than the older models? What do people recommend? I'm thinking if I get a new one, I'm leaning towards the Special Edition STI without all the electronic bells and whistles.

It mostly come down to looks and gadgets, except the 06/07 STIs handle better out of the box (with the 10 STI Special Edition being the exception), but that also means a harsher ride.

Prices for low mileage 06-07 STIs are still quite high, so even that is kind of a wash.

If you want a hatch, then I think the STI SE would be a great way to go...
