i have had a similar situation, i merged onto a road and the people behind me (girl driving, guy passenger) believed i cut them off. got caught at a red light and the guy got out of his car and came to my window..i saw him coming towards me so i quickly grabbed my pepperspray, unlocked it and as soon as he came up to my window i cracked it and unleashed a furious blast of pepper into his face..

needless to say he fell flat to ground and screamed like a little baby and i drove away laughing

Pepperspray is very very effective and legal although these types of situations should be avoided at all costs- but sometimes its just impossible to avoid so you should be ready

Exactly. If your against defensive weapons then you probably live in a very nice neighborhood and havent had anything like this happen. Sometimes you cant run (stuck in traffic)? Then your try and run method is worthless compared to pepperspray or a taser. Cops cant teleport to you, most attacks/fights last moments.

I have a ccw, I dont carry. I got my permit so that I could buy at shows and locally without the waiting period. I dont feel I need to actually carry.. really pepper spray should be all you need. Diffuse the situation quick and gtfo.

Esp the stuff you can get from the walmart sports section.. that stuff is meant for BEARS! LOL.. it sure as hell will subdue a human quick. And hell forbid they get a mouth full.. they'll be there pukin till they're empty..

dunno, I'd almost rather be shot than catch a face full of good pepper spray.

I got a face full of bear spray once. Our bear awareness instructor was spraying some off and the wind changed direction. It sucked.

Well not to sound like Billy bad ass here but as someone with a violent past and many lessons learned in life to all of you guys who think a gun is the answer it is not. 99% of the time a gun is drawn the trigger is never pulled, if it is pulled it is either within the first 5 seconds it is shown or the shot simply misses the target.

If I wasn't pissed off before I stepped out of my car, if I had a gun drawn on me I'd be even more pissed off.. To top that off you'd bet your ass that if you pulled that trigger you better kill
me dead because I'd be one pissed off wounded hombre otherwise.

Best solution... Run away and let them pick on someone else.

Beyond the moral issue and the fact that you have to live with it, I really don't want to spend my time in a Federal Pound Me in the XXX Prison while my kids are growing up without a dad, because I misjudged someone's intent and shot them dead.

If they're not close, sticks and stones will break my bones.
If they're getting closer, assume the Reverse Nike Stance. (Run away)
If they're in close and hostile, try to talk them down.
If they're ready to do you harm, spray'em.

I know what you are saying and I have no intent to kill someone but if you have a reason to get home to see your loved ones again then it may be an option. You just have to know how to judge the situation and make sure it is THE LAST possible scenario.

But either way, good for you for knowing what your limits are and not forcing yourself to do something you may not be comfortable with.

It really depends on the situation and location for me.

I'd have no issue at all taking someone down in my home... if I find you in my house and you're not supposed to be there, myself, Dog and Mr. Mossberg are going to escort you out in a bag. Whats left of you.

Out in the streets however.. again as I said earlier, I dont feel the need to carry.. I'd much rather just avoid the situation or give someone a good healthy dose of pepper spray.

Thinking a gun will save you on the street is flawed thinking.. in some states you go to jail just for drawing a weapon.. let alone using it. Florida is one of them. What will save your arse is your head and gut.. not getting into a bad situation. If you feel one coming on and have the ability to avoid it, vacate asap. Trusting the gut goes a long way. If you dont feel right.. gtfo!

If you get into a situation or a situation gets to you.. do the best you can to diffuse and vacate. If the situation does get violent and you have no way out, assume deadly intent and hold nothing back. There is no such thing as fair in a street fight .. or mugging.

Again though, thats only a last ditch nothing left no way out solution.

The inevitable is that sometime or another in life we will all have to defend ourselves physically. Hopefully for most of us that scuffle on the play ground in grade school was it... but dont count on it, always keep a eye open and be vigilant to your surroundings.

It's just that they are a bunch of kids. I'm going to sound like I have old balls, but when it comes to situations like this 99% of the time I can tell that someone's just above a child based on their responses to this ****. If they think they're going to get out of the car and take on the world, usually they're still within a stones throw of their teens.

Yep, threats of death to someone whose been there done that may scare them somewhat but may also enrage them further.


As far as mace goes, I can't speak to OC that cops use but the crap from mace.com is not far off from getting tobasco sauce in your eyes. I got a good dose of that a few months ago when helping clean up a puppy which had chewed through a canister attached to its leash. While not a direct spray, I had the coloring and oil all over me. While irritating, unless it was diluted seconds after coming out of the canister it's really nothing much. Remember, cops have to fight through their OC in order to carry it, and it's what, like 50 times stronger than the **** that normal people can get. .

most of my family is law enforcement.. (go figure huh) the stuff you buy in stores is more than likely to piss thugs off more and really not do much to them.. Especially when adrenaline is in the mix. If your going to carry pepper spray talk to an officer you know and have them buy it from a cop shop for you, and make sure to purchase a seperate can for him to properly train you to use.

Some states will also throw the book at you for the use of
pepper spray as well.
