I've bolded the problem for you. Using Edmunds as gospel for car performance is a poor foundation to go off of. Average drivers have easily ran stock GTO's 1/2 second to a full second faster than what Edmunds came up with.

edit: I'll go one step further and say that anyone who gets into a discussion about car performance comparison and the words "well Edmunds said..." comes out of their mouth pretty much loses all credibility in the discussion.

That is one mean block to have under your hood for sure. A mean cast-iron block for racing that is.

I don't remember right now, but I could have sworn I posted a whole database of 1/4mile times by LS2 GTOs. Basically, all the stock cars (unmodded or with bolt ons, like headers or intake) WITH DRAG RADIALS, were hitting high 12 sec or better times (with a few 11 sec times).

The LSx engine series is still the best series ever made IMO. I'm waiting for the day I will be able to start the RX-7 project. Oh happy day that will be.

Aside from the Corvette though, I've hated every single platform the LSx engine has been put in. They can make a solid engine, but just about everything they try to put it in is terrible.

I guess I have to have a certain post count before my signature shows up ??

Anyway, I was feigning outrage about your remark since I have a G8 GXP with an LS3. And I assumed my sig would show up so it would make sense. Oh well.

Oh hey... there it IS !

Love those GXPs. I had a 2005 GTO before my WRX, and it was a great car.

I saw these videos earlier. These two American titans can barely compete with Subaru.

Comparison Test: 2007 Ford Shelby GT vs. 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI

YouTube - Pontiac GTO vs. Subaru WRX STi Video by Edmunds' Inside Line

The Mazda Speed 3 beat Subaru though. Just to show that I am not biased.

And if you go by Car and Driver's Lightning Lap the domestics kill the STI. Having owned a GTO and currently owning a 2009 WRX, I can tell you the difference in power stock is mind boggling.

I just got my GTO protuned today... 373rwhp/373rwtq.

Not bad for a LS2 w/ bolt-ons (intake and headers)
