    WRX vs Mazda

Hello all I pick up my 2004 wrx 2.0 turbo on monday. Last night I was at my friends house who was going on and on about his 2006 speed 6. We took it for a drive and it actually felt slower even though it shows 260 some hp and mine is 220 some. Has anyone raced one of those in a wrx non sti. Hope my car is faster !!!!

A speed6 will walk a stock 04wrx. It MIGHT feel slower because it rides alot nicer.... But it's faster frumaroll. Not from a dig.

Quick comparison check shows the rated HP as 276 on the 06 speed6 vs 227 for the 04 WRX but the WRX is about 300-400 pounds lighter depending on transmission and trim. Track numbers have the WRX at a 5.6-5.8 0-60 vs the Speed6 doing it in 6.1-6.2 seconds. Quartermile has the Speed6 catching the Rex though with them both doing it in about 14.5 seconds give or take a tenth. Numbers are from various car tests results I found online doing a quick google search, so I'm guessing optimum launching, your results may be different.

So, seems pretty equal, be more up to the driver than the cars. Your WRX probably feels faster because of the weight difference and personal bias.

In a perfect world yes 5.6-5.8 in a 04rex... You get 1.... Yes, count it again... 1 good launch at 5.6-5.8 0-60 and it will cost you or him in this case a grenaded tranny. A speed 6 hooks on take off. I know this because my buddy had an 07 and I barely got him in the 1/4 mile (stock 07) by a 1/2 second.

Just remember Road and Track, Car and Driver and all them clutch dump to get those numbers....

half a second isn't really barely per se. Also, was this in your STI? That would be pretty remarkable.

A friend of mine has a MS6. It's very nice inside and out. Not meant to compete with a WRX at all. Both in stock form, I think the WRX would be faster down low, and the MS6 up high. Sit in the backseat of the WRX and then sit in the backseat of the MS6 and it's apparent how different they are.

It's definitely a competitor, definitely would annihilate me going up hill if i'm not ready and get turbo lagged.
