Differences between 09-10 WRX

I had read somewhere that the 09 WRX had a soft suspension that was corrected in the 2010 model. I am looking at buying a WRX in the near future been looking specifically at the 2010 WRX Premium, the only other option I am looking at is the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. So my questions are WRX or Ralliart and is the suspension issue with the 09s something to be worried about?

So the Spec C is finally coming to the US (in the form of a WRX STI Special Edition, 125 initial run)!

It kind of sounds like a TR version of the STI, but with actual performance enhancements, as opposed to just shedding options.

You read wrong.
2009 and 2010 WRX are essentially identical cars, essentially it's just the build date that distinguishes them apart.
The 2008 WRX was a brain fart on Subaru's part.

The 2008 WRX was the one with the softer suspension

Here is the meat and potato changes.

No major model, equipment or power changes for the WRX, GT or STI announced.

> Model codes have changed to accomodate SoA's new 'Option Package' ordering system. Example, an 09 WRX Premium 5door is code 9LP, with Navigation the model code is 9LQ, but for 2010 it would be a WRX Premium model code ALO plus Option Package #14 (Navigation).
Anyway, this new order and model code system is being used on all 2010 models.

The 08 STI's where having ring land issues.
The 09 WRX's from july-sept had bearing issues.

09 WRX Engine Failures

we/re assuming so as there have been no failures reported on any Oct or later build dates- many of these cars already have significant mileage on them

I'd insure if I were to purchase a July-Sept build that it already has the new engine in it

A new price too. Looking at the MSRP for both a 2010 GT and 2010 WRX:

- 2010 GT, 4 door: MSRP $26,995

- 2010 WRX:, 4 door: MSRP $24,995

What's up with that? Why would you ever buy the 224bhp GT when you can get the 265bhp WRX for $2K less?

The GT has an automatic transmission, which use to be a $1000 option on the WRX.
The GT also has a sunroof which at one point was about $1000 option on the WRX.

To get a sunroof in the 09-10 WRX you'll need the Premium package.
