I was on my way to work this morning. A Black Cobalt SS rolled up beside me. (We were doing around 115km/h) He slowed to match my speed for a few seconds and then a downshift and away he went...."hmmm" I thought. "Its not even 7am...but why not?"
I kicked back to 4th and pulled out behind him (double lane highway) I could smell his car heating up (hope he is past the break in) He pulled hard but I stayed with him running from 4th to 5th...
He pulled to the right and I sauntered up beside him....He looked over with a smile...
Back down to 4th I go....WOT and Turbo to 15+psi...weeeeee
Well, he pulled hard and I slowly gained enough distance ahead for him to pull in behind me....
Long story short (more like short story long...but anyway...) He held the distance between up to about 220km/h and then backed off pretty quick. (Smart move really...we were closing in on another car...and I remembered I was running my 16" snow tires...should check the speed rating on them)
Anyway, I was impressed...I am only Stage 1 (06 WRX) And I have no idea if he was modded or not, but that little domestic seemed pretty quick....
He later pulled up along side....We exchanged thumbs up, a wave and carried on....
A nice little car....but boy now do I want to get to Stage 2

Those new cobalt SS's are pretty quick cars. I think they even put up a better time in the lightning lap in florida than the STI and Evo X.

Hate to bust your balls guys, but I have a 97 civic hatch with a type r and smoked a kid in a yellow ss. Maybe they had something else done to it. This kid musta thought a girl driving a typical civic with an exhaust would be an easy target, but little did he know what I had under the hood...
Was probably the old SC and not the TC SS.

sorry, but a SS/TC would smoke a B18 swapped eg if he was trying. I am actually surprised that a stage1 06 WRX was able to pull on even a stock one. im a GM tech and the cobalt ss sc or tc or saturn ion redline for that matter are not slouches.. very quick due to no lag from the sc the only thing i hate is the wheel hop and tourqe steer they get other wise i would have bought one..i too am suprised you kept up i know my little bugeye would have a hard time.
If you have everything under control you're going too slow.

i test drove a new TC SS and i feel from the 0-70 mph i went up to my stg 2 07 wrx is faster, top end idk. but the car is to small and has horrible tq steer.

from a dig I am sure the WRX is faster, fwd vs. awd traction FTL. The top end of on a stg 2 07 I bet the SS/TC would pull on you. awd and the stock wrx turbo are going to hold you back up top.

i have a an 09 with a catback aem intake and a ecu flash
270 whp 297 torque
the sc SS does not keep up at all did a 20 roll to make it fair and i pull hard on him he had same mods
TC a buddy of mine just got one and we havent messed around yet ill let you knoe
I think the OP ran the s/c SS if he's only Stage 1 in an 06 WRX and the race was even.
The turbo 260 hp SS runs faster than a stock 09-10 WRX from a roll. It would take a Stage 1 09-10 WRX to stay even or creep ahead against the turbo SS.
