    Nice kill man.

I recently beat an 06ish Viper by about 8 bus lengths with my 100hp 626. He didn't stand a chance. By the end of third gear (about 65mph) he was just gone.

Now that I look back, I think he was parked....

so lets say for the sake of argument you are getting 250 at the flywheel, the SS has about 400 at the flywheel, your cars weighs roughly 3k lb, ss about 4k lb (these are very rough, feel free to make them more precise) so thats 3000lb/250hp = 12 lb/hp for the rex, 4000/400 or 10hp/lb for the ss, its probably within driver error anyway...

Not to doubt ya, but are your sure it was an SS? I could see that outcome with the V6 'maro.

That's a bit more rounding than I typically do in my math...let's look at some closer numbers:

    2002 WRX:
3400'ish pounds, I'll be kind to my favorite car and round down to 3300. His mods don't really add up to a lot of extra hp, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he got an extra 20 from an intake and catback. (generous)

    3300lbs/247hp = 13.36 lbs/hp

    2010 Camaro SS:
3780 pounds, from what I've read. 420 hp.

    3780lbs/420hp = 9 lbs/hp

In percentage terms, the WRX has 48% more weight to haul around per hp than the SS. This is a huge difference. The WRX will benefit from the AWD launch...but this is a powerhouse V8 we're talking about. Once they get a ways into 2nd gear, it seems likely that if the Camaro is on the gas, he will walk on by as if the WRX has stopped moving.

Even the V6 has a better power to weight ratio than a near-stock WRX.

If you're going by curb weight, the 02-03 wrx weighed in at 3085 lbs

Plus the automatic camaro ss's aren't as fast as the manual ones, at least according to C&D trap speeds of 107 mph vs 110-111 mph. Not saying that the guy above had a chance though if the camaro was really racing.

A stockish 02 WRX is nowhere near a 107 mph car either. Auto or manual, once the pedal goes down he's toast.

From a stop you can assume that with traction control in "normal" mode, a flat-footed launch in the Camaro will be met by the electro-nanny saying "nope, not today". The AWD launch would still be negated before 60 mph assuming both drivers hit it at the same time.

I've been waiting for the first one to start something with me. I never instigate but I do love it when I'm mistaken for an easy target.
