OK, we all know how 315whp at 3300lbs vs. 340bhp Hemi at 4000+ lbs is going to end, but enjoy either way:
Was leaving a shopping plaza and waiting for red light to turn left. I see a 2006+ Charger R/T waiting in his lane in front of me. He got the green and he took off as I watched him burn through the intersection. Definitely loud, some kind of aftermarket exhaust. My light turns green and I turn in behind him as he gets caught at another light.
Now I'm not looking for any trouble. The next light turns green and he proceeds to cut off two other cars to get the left lane before we hit the next red light.
Now I'm faced with a decision. Do I slide in behind a row of cars or take the free right lane next to him...
Well, the little devil on my shoulder wins and we line it up.
Did I mention this is a left turn two lane intersection? And my lane ends after 100yds into a left hand merge. Yeah, If I'm going to do this I better not screw up.
So light turns green and he hits it again. I'm patient. I live through the lag and avoid the bogg as 1st gear goes through the rpm's. He has half a car through the turn. Then I hit 2nd and 20lbs of boost. Decision time. We are neck and neck. I either back off (as I see my lane ending) or take him...
I reached that moment of clarity when you know you either winning or losing the contest and knew I had him. Kept into throttle, shifted to 3rd and looked back as I put the proverbial buslength on him. All and all took less than 5 secs and he limped home. He stayed back behind me (on a 2 lane road) after I was cruising the speed limit and he didn't try any flyby or thumbs up. I can appreciate his disappointment.
Thing is... 5 seconds before this happened I was having the worst week this year. Work and home stress just digging into me. After my little run, all that stress melted away and I drove home with a big smile on my face. Best prescription for the blues ever...
BTW, if the guy hadn't been such a fanboi, I wouldn't have run him
