well the 09 ralliart needs to be taken out of the equation, because it's pretty much apples to oranges. (and almost every magazine said that it's a piece of garbage )

as far as an 05 sti vs a 2010 evo, i've only driven the evo x and a very very modded 05 so i cant really compare the 2. i have driven an 06 sti though and i prefer the evo x. overall it was a more comfortable car. i felt like the power/gearing was a little bit better & it didnt have as many rattles

if you plan on modding though- i'd go for the sti. mitsubishi is EXTREMELY strict with their warranties and if you even look at the car wrong they will probably void it. also- the sti will be cheaper to start out with since you are buying used.

twisties, equal driving skill, sti will be about .5 seconds behind the evo

The 05 car is the better bang for the buck, since most of the steep depreciation is behind it and will have been lost by someone else, not you. The issue is finding one properly maintained almost 5 years later. If you can, and it's a low-use car, you'll be ahead in the money game.
