My friend with a stock speed 3 on stock tires trapped 101. That's pretty much what the 09 wrx's trap. Considering the fact that halfway through the 1/4 mile the speed 3 has no traction and still traps a 101, is pretty impressive. That also tells me that it has quicker pickup than the 09 wrx, not to mention a intake on a ms3 dynoed and extra 23 whp.

And i will never consider the 09 wrx on par with a 06 sti. Completely different cars. The 09 has 1 less shift to get to quartermile than the STi i believe. With like 35 more hp than the 09 wrx, the 06 sti would pull from a higher roll. But since street racing is illegal and we cant talk about it on this thread, it makes no difference. so you win :-)
I'm talking about the MS3 being the better of the bunch.

I havent driven a 09. I have owned a 06 WRX and a 07 STI...from all accounts I've seen the 09 WRX is on par with the STI. Maybe not in the handling department or with a super strong six speed....but in a straight line it's not the big difference it used to be.

Prior to 09 a MS3 would destroy in WRX in any race that wasnt in snow, mud, rain, or up to 30MPH.

Higher slolam speed, lower 1/4 mile speed, and more G's on a skid pad. That equals better performance....not a youtube race.
no it would not "destroy" any pre-09 wrx...i raced my friend in his speed3 and it was neck in neck at the end of the 1/4... and pre-09 wrx's are capable of better 1/4 times that the speed3...not to mention the new speed3 is heavier than the old one and has same power .........2007 MazdaSpeed3 vs. 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX - Sedan & Wagon Comparison - Motor Trend

    MS3s are pretty tight

I almost bought an MS3, but they have a bunch of inherent issues, like not being able to do due turboback exhaust without the turbo seals leaking, limited tuning options, not safe much past 300whp.

I gave up some looks, leather interior, and 3 doors, but i got a better motor, better turbo, better suspension, better brakes, and more tuning options. Stage 2 equivilant MS3's = 260whp
Stage 2 equivilant SS/TC's = 310whp (revhigh18 at our forum ran a 12.75 at 113mph with DP IC Tune stock tire)

And i know for a fact that speed3 vs 09 wrx scenario from a roll, the speed3 will win. that by no means its a better or faster car, it just means it has better top end than a wrx. from a stop or even a first gear roll, the wrx would win. or in rain or snow or dirt
I dont agree with the speed3 winning against an 09 from a roll as a matter of fact i ran one tonight from 50 and had him by a car not to mention i did it without dropping it into 2ND but while in 3rd gear and i was pulling on him due to its new turbo.

thats bc he was shifting slow as balls and you were probably shifting like a champ...trust me, they are fast from rolls

First off, I'm a noob. But what is this rolling start dung about? if I go to a track are there going to be any races that start ffrom a roll? if I'm sitting at a redlight, do I get a rolling start? it just seems so absurd to me.

f1 races from a roll. but thats about it. both from a roll and a dig have there advantages to see who has the faster car/better driver. guys that cant get traction always want to race from a roll and those that have no top end power want to go from a dig. i have fun with either.

F1 does not do rolling starts.
I understand the concept of a rolling start. Seems to me that it is admitting defeat if you want to race like that. plus the fact that it is so reckless and foolish, especially on the highway.

I agree. The only times I've ever actually "street raced" I've gone out 5 miles away from the city on some desert roads where you can see for miles. It's safer than being in the city, and the only people in danger are the two vehicles racing. Being that it was the desert, and there is very little rain, there weren't really any pot holes.

Good point ,i really didn't want to race but he kept egging me on maybe because of the paper plates dont know .Street racing is not good period .My friend went to jail because of that and it was a big mess.

Actually, one of the most entertaining aspects of F1 is the launch at the beginning of the race. The melee that happens as some launches work better than others, then the inevitable 1st corner bangups, are great fun.

Not sure where someone got the idea that they do rolling starts as a normal thing. The only time I've seen it is when there is a "safety car start", due to really bad conditions. In the really old days, the drivers used to start with a foot race to their car, which they then had to get started and begin the race. I'll bet that that was fun to watch.

I believe Grand Am does rolling start as well. I think World Challenge does standing starts.

Honestly I think it would be fun to watch a group of 15 DP cars try to do a standing start with no traction control and and then make it into the 1st corner right before GT cars try to get lined up for their start.

i said F1 but i meant nascar. i'm an idiot. how is racing on the street, from a stop safer than from a roll? or you speaking about at actually race track from a dig? and if you want to split hairs your racing from a roll at the drag strip. your tires are 6 inches to a foot away from the start line pending on where you stage.
