I almost swapped my Solid for an IRS but the guy said last minute that he wanted 100 dollars boot. So I told him to enjoy his wheel hop at the start line and shortly after ran my 8.71 and later ran my first sub 2.0 60 ft on street tires. I was happy.

[QUOTE=alexlakeman;2445640]Ok, hopefully the title made you open my post .... new user here, and drive an 04 Mustang GT, 5 spd, and n20....

Anyways, on to my question... I've raced STi's/wrx's a couple times on the street and got beat, no n20 at the time ...

So, now I've installed my n20.. initially with a 100 shot, and plan on safely go up to a 150 shot ... have any of you raced a Mustang on spray? Outcome?

How's that 150 shot working out for ya? Thermoplastic intake + missed shift= BOOOOOOM!! pop pop pop pop!!! You probably wont make three passes with the 150 until it happens (wet system). Go to any drag track at test n tune night and youll usually see it happen 2 or 3 times in one night.

(been there done that in my 99 GT, missed the shift to third and hit the rev limiter-shards of intake got sucked into the heads and bent a cam) Then I got a Vortech, much better.

But that was 10 years ago, now I drive a WRX!

Gawd, that post is a mess...

So, since you missed a shift and blew up your car, you assume everyone else will too?

Probably a good thing you are back to stock and off the giggle gas...

Yes, as a matter of fact I do believe that the average person with a 150 shot of N2O (on a mustang) will eventually miss a shift (almost always 3rd gear), hit the rev limiter, pool fuel in the plastic intake, and grenade it (mine was a very nicely installed NX wet kit with a window switch, all it took was a millisecond mistake and a 75 shot to blow it). One night at the track I watched 3 people do it inside of 2 hours. The newer dry kits are much safer, and its a very good idea to run a Bullit intake on a modular stang running N2O, they can take more abuse. My hats off to you if you have never missed a shift at the track or anywhere else.

And, Im nowhere near stock on my 10K mile 09 WRX, so dont call me risk averse! 310 AWHP and bigger turbo on the way.

A Saleen blower on the 05 GT is a much better setup. remember, We we were talking No2 on modular mustangs here, I have no opinion or experience with No2 on WRXs, so have at it.

An average person is not putting a 150 shot on thier car and racing it... so the above-average racer will do his research and make sure he does the right thing... what that is, I have no idea, as my 99 Cobra was stock, except for a drop in K+N and tint...

EVERYONE (including Force) has missed a shift

Congratz on your not-stock Scooby. Did you actually get it AWDynotuned or are you making an assumption?

The 05+ can take a decent amount of power increase without building the engine, (about 450 RWHP) as long as the tune is good... crappy internals limit it further. Mine dynoed at 440 RWHP and TQ on a 10 pound pulley

FTR, I don't think I would gas my WRX... they make better power by upping the hairdryer and moving the IC... I know some people put meth kits on, but I would be leary of that.

I'm not sure why but my car with me and everything in it weighed in at 3320lbs. (I think I have a lightweight k-member) my buddies 01GT auto weighed in at 3480lbs. My other buddies 07GT...ready for it... 3730lbs. Thats 310lbs heavier than my car which makes a huge difference. You should easily smoke him.
Only if I had a Rex. My plan is to buy a 04 and up rex. And probably settle with a Stg 2 and some suspension mods and some exterior mods. Basically a fun DD with some usable power to get me to school and home safely and reliably all while being fun to drive.

Anyway Im gonna let him have his fun with the car, I like his stang too, it looks georgus btw.

Heres a dyno graph for my 09 REx. although I had a retune after this and making a little better power now. And here's link to one of my Mustangs that was a feature car in 5.0 magazine, its on their website now (its kind of a funny write up, wish I still had her. The article even mentions the nitrous incident on my other GT). 2000 Black Ford Mustang GT - Mustang 5.0 Magazine
